i really appreciate this vid i just got out of the military and am trying to pursue a degree so i can become a wildlife biologist and these vids and talking with biologists really help the insight.
so heartwarming to see more people pursue wildlife biology 😊 I for one is studying MS Wildlife Sc in the Philippines. Way to go fellow warriors! I wish you all the best ✊
@ Mohamed Swalha I agree with you, this video turned out great! Keep 'em coming pls if you're able to, @ vuster - you definitely deserve more attention & I can't wait to see more of your vids! ;-D
This video introduced me into wildlife biology, and I think ill want to do it when im older. Ive had a fascination with mountain lions for years, and seeing someone get a job in getting closer and beginning to understand them better, well it makes me want to do it so bad. Thank you for this video.
This is the most rewarding careers I have ever researched ! Best choice darling ! Be safe in your hikes please ! Love your truck is a bit cluttered .. next chance see to tidy it ! Take care
What specific degree do you have? I’m studying wildlife biology atm but I might switch to a major where I can still get these types of jobs but also be open to other fields.
You can get intro biology/chemistry/math classes out of the way. It could help to look up the class requirements for the degree you want at schools you plan to apply to
@@cheezifs Thnx. I went for a different career now but that doesn't mean i can't learn this aswell. wanted to do Earth science lab/field work; Exploring diffferent terrain at first. math isn't my department unfortunately.
If I get a good enough sample, the lab can get an individual ID from the hair. If we ever run into that lion or its relatives in the future, we can match it up to a past record and use that data to see how the overall population is doing
@@cheezifs I have a question I’m lowkey scared of getting bitten but I’m also so interested in animals is there anything you do to relax yourself I know this sounds crazy
@YourGoodOldPal of course my comment does not apply to wild animals in forests. There is surely training for zoologists how to interact with wild animals.
Anything along the lines of biology will work for your undergrad degree. I’ve mostly worked with research groups affiliated with a university but I have friends who work for state parks, CDFW, IWS. There’s a lot out there
@@SavageXBenjis idk what Seeger is but yeah I finished while working for my professor/advisor as her research assistant and she moved me as her project manager after I graduated. Unfortunately the pay isn’t great but I’m hoping after the season ends when my contract is up, I will move up to bigger and better things like the EPA or something like that.
This video is amazing !! I’m not trying to be a nose picker here but just out of curiosity how much do you get paid to do a job like this ? This work seems so rewarding and peaceful. Just wanted to know what the income is like !!bthanks.

Please do tell me, if you managed to figure out something.

I love being alone
And outdoors
This is so cool, did you go to school for this?

what classes in community college should i take? biology in general?

I'm a MSc environmental science student nd want to be a environmentalists
What specific part of California do you cover?
Our project is based in Southern California in general but this particular hair project was in the Santa Ana range
❤️
What’s the purpose of the hair sample?

Wow awsome work, i really wanna be a mountain lion biologist but i live in Aus... hopefully one day 🥲
this is my dream job since i was about 11! im 13 now
I study wildlife biology, can you teach me everything you know
why not, you got questions?

@@furo.8732 aha not sure, pet some dogs?
@@furo.8732 😂I have the same problem. But I guess when you meet animals, learn how to tackle them, it will be easy. Practice will remove your fear.

Any Jaguars?
How do you get a job like this? How much do you get paid?
you need some kind of science degree, biology would help. Our field is quite underpaid considering the education requirements
A practical fish and wildlife diploma is often a sufficient prerequisite for a Technician position in my experience
What degree do you need for a job like this? And which companies hire people for stuff like that?

How tf do I get a job like this
I got mine by getting a bachelor’s in Environmental Science and started out as a research assistant during my undergrad.
@@Nurauq were you able to be a assistant while still working on your Seeger and how long was school?

A bachelors takes 4-6 years to complete depending on you.
Do you carry a gun on your person when you are out in the field?
All the lion biologists are equipped with a can of bear spray for my project. I've never had to use it.
@@cheezifs Oh okay, that’s good. At least they have something lol. Hopefully you never have to use it anyway though.

Wear your seatbelt ;)
Did not like the video because it was 3 second or less clips. This could have been really good.
