    That is one serious deep sounding bass.

      Yes, Clive, totally agree. I would actually love to hear it with Thunderbrowns on. Hope you are keeping well. 👍

    I loved watching this video having not the slightest idea about basses but at the moment I am interested in. It was nice watching you play. Have a great weekend.

    Must concur that you & Carol Kaye would have thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. Very nice tone on the Ubass. Pats to your woofers.

      @@UkuleleWales Carol was not only a lovely person but a spectacular musician who had to deal with a lot of sexism & did it with style !

    Thank you so much for this great review. I had to laugh when you said you shouldn't buy it because you already had enough electro-acoustic bass ukuleles. I have two cheap ones which I am quite happy with, and I promised myself that if I would ever get another one, it will be a fretless one. This one is not fretless, so I will not get it, although it is tempting...
    Love from The Netherlands, Lia

      Hi Lia, yes the temptation is great! 😂 Part of me is now wondering whether I should have kept this one, oh well! Yes, definitely try fretless. 😎

    Love the walnut bridge on that Bass, Rach & the access port on the back, very handy 😊 Lovely decoration around the soundhole too ❤
    What a difference turning the treble & mids down, makes! I'm liking this DUBS Bass 😊
    Really enjoyed the whole of this review Rach, excellent! Do I need one? 🤣 See you soon x 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️

    How does it compare to a Kala U-Bass?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Před 5 měsíci +2

      That’s a great question but a difficult one to answer for me. I would put the DUBS in the mid price range and my Kala UBass is in the higher price range so therefore has better tuners, EQ and I’ve fitted it with Thunderbrowns so very different to play too. I don’t own but have tried a Journeyman and a Rumbler and I would say definitely comparable to these and fairly similar overall quality as far as I can tell. 👍

    Nice sounding bass, indeed!
    These fingerclicks are also my problem in my e-acoustic basses, both either rubber or metal-covered strings. The pressing on the board with the fingers of my left hand very often send that annoying click.
    Trele is turned all the way down.
    Is this a result of my poor technique or is that just unevitable?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi Kunibert. I was going to ask if the strings are sticky but I can see you mention metal strings too. Are you using an amp, and if so is the EQ Treble quite high? Other possible things, do you have long nails on either hand and is the sound definitely coming from your left hand area?

    • @Kunibert_Knatter
      @Kunibert_Knatter Před 5 měsíci

      @@UkuleleWales Hi Rachel, the click is coming from pressing the the strings on the fretboard. Treble is quite low, just high enough to make the sound not too mumbly. And no matter if fretted or fretless. Tried to mitigate it with an extra EQ, no luck.
      I blame it on the piezo being very very sensitive, as I never have this problem with any of my all-electric pickup basses.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Před 5 měsíci

      @@Kunibert_Knatter So it happens on fretted and fretless basses and rubber and metal strings? The only thing I can think of it must be left hand technique maybe pressing down a little too hard and as you say the piezo pickups. I wish I could see a video or at least hear the sound.

      No I haven’t but I ave often wondered what they are like so maybe something for the future. 👍

  • @ChingFong58

    The neck appears to be wider on that one.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Před 5 měsíci

      I didn’t notice it being any wider than normal when playing it TBH and the nut width is 45mm which is fairly standard.
