    What was that stuff you were scooping onto the spike?
    And why didn't you just stick the spike into the bucket?

      That could work, sure. I sprinkle on to save on material.

      I watch power hammer videos so that I can think about how rich people beat iron while I'm beating it with hand powered hammers. Actually, I've learned a few good tricks while watching the power hammer guys. My best 'trick' was to take on an apprentice for awhile and teach him how to do the monkey work, occasionally guiding him through the finish of whatever we were making in order to keep him interested. He decided to go back to driving a forklift at a distribution company.

      Using a power hammer effectively takes just as much skill as using a regular hammer. The thing I really like about this channel is the fusion of the blacksmith and the machinist. There's a hundred other traditional blacksmith channels but this channel is unique.
