Underrated and under appreciated this guy is a rock, He defends and attacks in both boxes extremely well and is a physical beast who rarely loses a duel vs strikers. He’s been just as good as Saliba this season IMO👌

I need y'all to remember, before Saliba came Gabriel carried us on his back the whole of last season. Now we have 3 elite defenders in him, Ben White and Saliba, we should appreciate them all and be grateful they all play for Arsenal. 💯

It's crazy if you look at the age of Gabriel, his best assets: 1v1 defending and aerial duels are already world class, his distribution is becoming really good already and he is just turning 25. His reading of the game will only improve. If you consider that Saliba (21), Ben White (25), Tomiyasu (24) are also still young, especially for defenders and haven't played together for so long. This could be the formation of one of the best backlines ever for Arsenal, if we can keep them together for another 6-7 years. Tomiyasu is basically a Swiss pocket knife. The fullbacks Tierney and Zinchenko are also just 25, with Norton-Cuffy and Walters we also have great fullback talents who will come through in the next 2-3 years. And with L.Sousa somebody at Hale end, who could potentially provide competition to Gabriel and the LBs.
One thing in particular I’ve noticed with Gabriel is how much he’s improved on the ball in the last couple years. Anyone else remember when we first got him, every time he received the ball you could tell he wanted to get rid of it as soon as physically possible. Now, he’s so comfortable that he actively invites pressure from opposition forwards so he can make space for the left back or xhaka when he drops deep
Add that to the fact his tackling is solid and he’s turning into a bit of a pest in the opposition box, 23 mil looks like a bit of a steal

He is a match wining center back. They are so rare. He won us the games against Chelsea and Fulham. Top scoring center back of the 20/21 season. All this for just 27mil.

Maybe the reason his mistakes were so outrageous is he's got us used to him performing at such a level, we enjoyed Willo bossing the defence and getting the hang of the Prem but now that he's unphased and hitting a small valley Gabriel has come back with his experience and showed that despite his concentration flaws he can be that last man with clinical tackles and angel interceptions
Also, his mistakes weren't even costly to us, because either Saliba, Ramsdale or our full backs were able to cover for him. The only costly mistake he made was against Fulham and he made up for it.
i think because the high level of saliba made him improve his defending capabilities.. now we have two brilliant CB.. alongside ben white who has been a revelation to us in RB position and variety great LB players.. woww.. we are truly blessed in defense..

Gets so much flack but you can tell how much trust the coach and team have in him to defend, start our attacks from the back line and adds clutch goals throughout the seasons since he’s arrived. He makes mistakes like all but he never hides when the moment calls for him to step up

I really like Gabriel. He was a little bit error prone earlier in the season but finished the 1st half of the season strongly. I'm rooting for him to use the world cup snub as motivation to destroy the 2nd half and show the brazil coach he made a mistake in not selecting him.
He has good defense skill, but he also has good decisiveness. He is a good player
If you watch the games, him and Saliba has made almost same number of errors but he has been punished more

Saliba is the future best defender in the world but at the same time he is lucky to have Gabi on his left And Benjamin on his right 😇
Gabriel is underrate he's the reason why our back is so strong but many will never acknowledge this
People give him slack cause of his mistakes. And yes, he does have one or two in him. But he's very comfortable with the ball at his feet, good at passing, blocking and can score goals. Fans should give him due, I mean it's not too long ago we had Mustafi, Sokratis and a wore down Koscielny.

Gabriel is out best center back and he’s tasked to take more risk than Saliba who is having his first season in Arsenal hence the blames go to him often. Have seen the fans chant Saliba after making mistakes so many times. Do that for Gabriel also instead of slandering him.

Amazing how he is goes under the radar. If anything he has been our best CB this season, has eliminated those errors in his game and just looks a colossal at the back!

Such a good player. He’s still very young and already doing awesome. With more experience he’s bound to improve further. Arsenal is so young but already so good it’s pretty insane. Never seen anything like it.

Me personally I enjoy watching gabriel, I still support him in his little mistake, he rarely makes mistakes that lead to goal, and when he did, he always atone with goals, I love him, he's still my favourite defender!
Since Saliba came back in Gabiel hasn't gotten the credit he deserves. Sure he's made a few errors but then again so has Saliba.
I think Gabriel and Saliba are the CB pair in the league this season, and much is always being made of Arsenal's attack (and rightly so too) and the lack of depth in midfield, the high line and aggressive press, Arteta's tactics etc, but honestly the main reason they are top of the league is because their defense show up every week and do the job, and the depth of the defense has been winning them points where other teams might drop them. Gabriel's leadership and consistency doesn't normally make the highlight reels, while Saliba's flair on the ball and last ditch sprints to cover back do, along with Gabbi's mistakes, so I think Gabriel has been hugely underappreciated too.
