  • Tasting Soviet era lemonades to see which one is my favorite. Buratino Lemonade and Duchesse Pear are two carbonated and sweet drinks. They aren't popular around the world, but I believe most people would enjoy drinking them.

      lol, I don’t know why but I’m from Russia and it sounds so hilarious 😅 Western media keeps saying how bad things are in Russia right now due to sanctions whereas the reality is the complete opposite, supermarkets are stocked in abundance, prices are at pre-war levels, things are more or less normal. Whereas from my European friends I hear the opposite. Now that I hear about some Russian drinks starting to pop at Western European supermarkets it feels like the roles have reversed. I know it’s probably just an independent supplier making his way to the European market, but the circumstances make it funny 😂

    • @ricardogens9834
      @ricardogens9834 Před rokem +4

      @@vladm5920 Everything's been fine over here, yes prices have gone up quite a bit, but it hasn't lead to any shortages of anything, in fact, the higher prices have resulted in more products being available because more money can be made from them, so it's better for producers. The city I'm in is quite international so every shop has an international products section with plenty of variety. The company that makes these drinks is German, so the sanctions are very much still in effect, and most Russian/Belarusian/Ukrainian culture products that expats who live here consume come from the Baltic countries, as they're in the EU. The city I'm in has also welcomed a lot of Ukrainian victims of the violence of Putin's Mafia-state, so it allows them to have a taste of home while they're away. Its definitely lucky that I've managed to find these drinks here, it's by far not common everywhere else in Europe.

      Great to hear that more people enjoy eastern stuff! Since you talk about sparkling beverages, I'd also suggest trying baikal if you're a fan of herbs and kvas, which is essentially black bread-y soda with a little sourness to it(i know, it sounds terrible and not going to lie: you'll either love it or absolutely hate it. There's almost no middle ground)

    • @bidlogun7796
      @bidlogun7796 Před rokem +2

      @@ricardogens9834 yeah yeah "everything's fine". I'm from Poznan and it's a complete nightmare! Not only do they regularly glorify B*ndera on the streets of Eastern Polish cities (who is a w*r crim*nal for Poles), but they also refuse to leave the expensive apartments provided to them temporarily for living in Western Polish cities, in particular in Poznan. Free accommodation in a hotel complex in the very center of Poznan, apparently, was liked by refugees from across the eastern border. After learning about the need to leave the facility in connection with the planned renovation, the guests staged a loud protest. In our understanding, refugees are people who are fleeing from adversity to another country that owes them nothing. A country that voluntarily and at its own expense (or rather, at the expense of its own citizens) provides them with some living conditions. And for these conditions - say, three-star hotel, and sometimes less - you need to be grateful. After all, once again, no one is obliged to help a refugee in a foreign country.
      However, the problem is that Ukrainians do not think so. After all, they were purposefully taught a different point of view. That they are not refugees, but the real owners - first-class Europeans. And that everyone owes them.

    • @ricardogens9834
      @ricardogens9834 Před rokem +1

      @@bidlogun7796 I said I'm in Western Europe, not Central Europe, so I don't know how things are over there. Here, prices have gone up considerably, but everything is as close to normal as they've ever been. Things were much more abnormal 2 years ago during covid or 8 years ago during the refugee crisis. I can definitely see how the countries bordering Ukraine would be having a much tougher time, but I wouldn't know because I'm not there or from there.

    Holding my urge to not drink alcoholic drink. Yea. I never drink it, once.
    Hows it taste like, a soda?

    Russian soft drinks sound good and pretty 'natural'? I think if you packaged the original recipe today in a bougie glass bottle with a minimalist label, slapped on some marketing nonsense about natural organic soda, etc. you could charge a pretty penny for it.

    When people say Soviet Union I genuinely don’t know if they’re talking about the past or present

    Question... does leaning on the bar like that enhance the drinking experience? Or do you just have a really small tripod? 😂

    I think that it's safe to say that if you grow up in proper Slavic household you'll get used to drinking alcohol with no other nonalcoholic drink real quick. And I'm speaking from experience haha.
