    This worked for me yesterday. Thanks to the uploader for the help, I'd all but given up 👍
    1. Turn off machine, disconect power lead, press power button to expell any residual power in the machine (and also did disconnect hard drive to simplify things).
    2. Found CMOS Clear pins on motherboard.
    3. Pulled off Jumper Cap off pins 1/2. (says Normal on the motherboard for pins 1/2).
    4. Placed Jumper Cap onto pins 2/3. (which says CMOS Clear for pins 2/3).
    5. I did power on the machine at this point (not sure if it helped or not, or necessary)
    6. Turn off machine disconnect power again, put Jumper cap back onto pins 1/2 (normal position).
    7. Power machine on (hard drive still disconnected).
    8. Screen lit up and after about 30 secs the round swirl appeared and I'm able to get back into the Bios which is now reset to the default.

      @@huhuproudparentakong12kids55 don't worry about it. As long as you've disconnected the power lead and pressed the power button with the jumper cap on pins 2/3, just replace the jumper cap back on pins 1/2 and power up the machine. Power back up and bios will be hopefully reset to default.

      @@drexter09 no idea.
      But the guys message above suggests his machine didn't turn on.
      Other than that, I don't know. I was down this rabbit hole almost a year ago, and I'm not a professional, so it's not something I tackle every week etc...

    You'd think by now the manufacturers or engineers would come up with a physical button to push, similar to a reset or power button. It can even be tiny so not to be pushed by accident.

    • @judeghazaleh3457
      @judeghazaleh3457 Před 4 lety +1

      A button? I don't think so, maybe toggle switch, or a slider, it can't just short two pins, it has to disconnect 2 pins to defuse battety power to the board, and short 2 pins to discharge residual power from capacitors and auxiliary circuits.

      @micmacha Před 2 lety +2

      You can technically fit a SPST switch to the jumper; but I don't think you want to be putting yourself in a position to reset your mobo that often!

    Switched the jumper position, turned back on and the mobo immediately recognised it and let me get into BIOS.

    Make sure after placing the jumper on pin 2,3 you start your computer. Then you'll be prompted with bios setting. Reset the settings and than save. After that place the jumper back on 1,2 pin and restart.

    • @OutlawedPoet
      @OutlawedPoet Před 2 lety

      Is it necessary to put the jumper back onto pins 1,2? I've had the cap on pins 2,3 for over a year now after a failed overclock. Pretty sure I tried to put the cap back on pins 1,2 before, but the computer would not boot even though the BIOS was at the default settings. Might have to try it again.

    • @Saintathantwinpeaks
