    This is a Dogri song. Still it is very popular and is often played on Radio Kashmir Jammu. It is tuned differently.

      Dalip Kumar, perhaps 70 years ago, when told by (late) Anil Biswas that Lata Manghaskar, sings very well and that she was from Maharashtra,

    And pahari mein father ko chachu nahi bolte. Wife is refering banku as nephew of her husband. So ultimately banku is not her son. And "bhaat" means rice in Himachal.

      her mother is malika pukhraj
      singer at times of maharaja harisingh in jammu before1947
      later she was deported to Pakistan due to some reasons.
      so she was a great Dogri singer and we should be proud of her even if her daughter is now in Pakistan.
      music has no limits

      sometimes even the sons called their father as chachu imitating their cousins....like many called their motgers as bhabhi imitating their chachu....nevertheless there are some pronunciation issues...but the melody of this song is more powerful than these minor flaws...Tahira sings Dogri well

      Its Dogri Song and in villages ladies don’t call their husbands name.. in many areas people called father chachu also.. she is right. Moreover this song was originally sung by her mother Mallika Pukhraj who belonged to Jammu before partition.

      Jammu is linguistically and historically closer to Himachal . Kashmir kane te sirf political alliance ae due to some events in history.. other than that we share more with Kangra Chamba of Himachal

      @@rohit09cool85 my grandmother knew & used to sing the original one. Many people don't know that this is not even a dogri song but a pahadi kangri & mandeali song. Language is similar to dogri but is not same + song has changed on Pakistani side. It's not balocheyan da theekhana par katocheyan da theekana. Khalesar has changed to lakesar. Hamirpur to haripur. Places like Nadaul, barot , paprola are still present in himachal , part of old kangra , suket( mandi) riyasat.

      @@bhanu9725 kangri and mandeali are older than dogri chomu , dogri is just a mix of these languages and poonjabi and himachali kingdoms were independent of jammu , infact they were at war with each other most time.
