    LSG Sky chef will always have a special place in my heart. I went from a porter to a truck driver in my 3 years spent there, I left to another company Dobbs,Gate Gourmet, one of my biggest mistakes I ever made.

    I worked the other night at sky chefs Portland (in Seattle) and I loved it. I've never felt more appreciated at a job. I'm working there for one week starting tonight and I can't wait. Btw I'm a gig worker with wonolo,that's why I'll only be there a week. I might do longer though.

    • @caitthenerd7470
      @caitthenerd7470 Před 7 lety +1

      They don't actually keep the food warm in the trolleys. They warm it up in basic ovens on the plane.

      The food is always blast chilled before being put into the trolleys. Chilled when loading onto aircraft.

    i always wondered about that process. for a frequent flyer its the cleanliness that comes to mind. like...did they clean that one before the food got there?. are they cleaned on a certain time cycle or every day? how long has this box been in rotation? stuff like that comes to mind.. awesome video though.

      Yes the trolleys are clean after a flight even though they go straight to the dish room to empty ,wash , clean because I work at LSG for almost 5 yrs and I can tell you because I did a lot with the trolleys and trays

  • @am1966ath
    @am1966ath Před 10 lety +1

    These trolleys costs about 500-600US$ each...

    • @lsgskychefs
      @lsgskychefs  Před 10 lety +1

      The cost of these trolleys always depends on multiple factors - the exact specifications of the product according to the customers' needs, order quantity, delivery time, location, etc. So we cannot make a concrete cost estimate without considering these variables.

    • @am1966ath
      @am1966ath Před 10 lety

      Excuse me..I happened to have worked for LSG-SKY CHEF in their SAS-catering department..SAS has more or less the same carts as Lufthansa..as has most carriers..they could be a little cheaper or alot more expensive but this is an estimate..

    • @lsgskychefs
      @lsgskychefs  Před 10 lety

      am1966ath Many airlines want to offer their passengers a complete travel experience with an onboard meal typical of the destination. Airlines also estimate the choice of meals they serve onboard according to the nationality of the largest number of passengers. This is particularly the case in Business and First Class, where passengers can expect a more customized service.

    • @am1966ath
      @am1966ath Před 10 lety

      LSG Sky Chefs That I know very well having worked in the trade..that also leads to huge amounts of waste..tons of mineral water,expensive chocolate & marmelade and other delicatessen being thrown away at end destination because of the blaze attitude of premium pax and the laziness of inflight crew to present what is on offer..that airlines want to offer premium pax a complete travel experience is usually marketing bullshit.
      Then there is the clumsy carriers who forget kosher or vegetarian meals and don t care..like SAS,Avianca( a nasty carrier) or sometimes Air France...carriers also try to pinch on costs..I have seen this too with the quality of the food that they buy..instead of baking bread-rolls and cakes themselves they are delivered from a bakery..the problem is LSG and the outsourcing to this german giant..when carriers maintain their own catering department, food is often tastier like Malaysian airline or SIA..once LSG gets the contract the inflight food starts tasting shit...not to talk about infected relations with labour etcetc
