- Written by Andrew Eldritch.
No finished version of Wide receiver has ever been leaked. Wide receiver was demoed, most likely by Andrew Eldritch alone, and there are notes the song was planned as a b-side to "This corrosion". After the lineup at the time had split up the follow-up album came to be called Floodland instead of the planned "Left on mission and revenge" with mostly new songs. Somewhere along the way Wide receiver was shelved.
I have heard 2 edits and none of them have any vocals on the verses.
Edit 1 is circa 6 minutes and 46 seconds long.
• The Sisters of Mercy -...
This edit has the format of intro, instrumental verse, chorus 1, instrumental verse, chorus 2, bridge, chorus 3 to fade.
Edit 2 is circa 6 minutes and 17 seconds.
• The Sisters of Mercy -...
This edit has the format of intro, instrumental verse, chorus 1, instrumental verse, chorus 1, instrumental verse, intro instrumental verse to fade. My guess on this edit is that it's fan made.
I decided to cover Edit 1 since it's happening a little more in that one with chorus 2, bridge and chorus 3.
I recorded Wide receiver between 2022-11-26 and 2022-12-02.
EZX: Dream Pop (Bitcrush with modified mix)
HALion Sonic SE is used for synthbass and synthsteelguitars
Toontrack EZmix is used on guitars, bass, synthbass and synthsteelguitars
Cubase internal effects along with T-De-Esser plus is used on vocals.
A little confession:
The guitars on the intro and verses was really hard for me to play so I recorded those guitars 1-2 bars at a time. Repeating each 1-2 bar/bars until it sounded ok and then I added a keyboard (steel guitar) playing the same thing.
I double my bass guitar with a synthbass to get a really FAT bass-sound.

Thank you, Rita! I didn't see it while filming but he decided to clean his private parts so I had to edit that out at czcams.com/video/P8ercpO0fzc/video.html LOL :)
@@tobiasforsner ha that too funny!

@@jackofasgard9108 Thank you! 😎👍
Thanks for putting up this earworm on YT!
You sound way better than the Sisters themselves sound today.
Great work - keep on covering...
Thanks! :)
@@tobiasforsner You are welcome.
Parabéns pela bela versão! Sisters of Mercy sempre!
Muito obrigado! 😎👍
Love this song
ohhhhh nice! thank you! thats how i imagined a proper studioversion of this!
Thank you so much for your demos ! Such a beautiful song 🖤
OMG... This is one of the original SoM songs that were perfect and did not need to be remade (unlike the "new" ones). But again, your touch added something special and I love it.
The original is barely audible.
this is touching. i love this song - great to hear a decent version of it.
Thank you so much! :)
I was hoping for an old haunting track like this to get Forsnerized 👌🤟👍
Great cover. Greetings from Brazil. 🍀
Thanks! :)
Brilliant. Good to hear some of the rare songs covered. 😎😎😎
Thanks! :)
Nice one !!! I love the sound created on this one !
Your version of "On the wire" is also cool.
And you say
Where is my believer
Waiting for the sign
Straight off the ground
With his hands in the air
And the sky for a wire
All tattered and torn
Your feet never bleed
You say never mattered
And the morning found
Your reign is over
In the hour of time
And where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the edge and
Too far forward
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the edge and
Too far forward
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line 5:05
Out of sight and i dont't mind !!!
Too far forward
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the edge
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Where's your wide receiver
Over the border
Where's your wide receiver
Over the line
Out of sight and dont't mind !!!
Too far forward
Where's your wide receiver
...
this is a revelation
Thanks! :)
You took a song that can be somewhat difficult to like, and made it sound fantastic!
Thanks! such a shame there's no melody and lyrics available for the verses. Not sure if Eldritch bothered working more on the verses until the song was shelved.
@@tobiasforsner I'm not even sure he'd respond if anyone asked him, as he's never been one for justifying anything! perhaps a fan at the next gig can shout WIDE RECEIVER at him and see what he says!
@@tobiasforsnerHas it ever been confirmed that it even is a Sisters song?
@@VisionThing Wide receiver is mentioned in any (or both(I read both books after the other)) books Waiting for another war and/or Paint my name in black and gold as, if i remember it correctly, a song Andrew took to the FALAA-sessions but it wasn't finished or good enough to make it on the album. There are aldo notes circulating of the planned follow-up to FALAA called Left on venom and revenge as a song on the 12"version of This corrosion but that never happened. I have never read an interview where Andrew mentions the song though. I believe it's all Andrew on the demo.
@@tobiasforsner Wow, thanks! Do you know how the song ended up on the internet? I’ve read several people claiming Wide Receiver to be a fan tribute song, so do you remember who was the source in the books?
Fantastique cover, merci 🤙🤘
Very cool cover !!
Thank you!!! :)
Awesome cover love this song !
Thanks! :)
As with all your versions, excellent.
Har själv en oversized LP, guldtopp, och även en gammal favoritorkester, så👍🏻.
WOW

So, When is the latest range of Forsner T-shirts coming then ;)
If you mean when the next song will be released the plan is around 18-19th of march. Haven't decided which song nor which T-shirts to wear yet ;)
I’d happily wear one! I’m proud of my original Heartland forum shirts, and even my ultra rare original Chairman Bux shirt, so a forsner would be a great addition!
Ah, you mean a Forsner Tshirt?? LOL i'll look it up 😀
@@sebastiaan.eldritch-boersen I was on the original Heartland forum about 20yrs ago and the 2nd highest poster to Quiff Boy at the time until he booted me off for no apparent reason that I am aware of. hey ho
tabs for guitar and bass please
I don't do tabs but since all guitars and bass is dubbed by keyboards I took some screenshots that might help you finding out how to play the song. This link will selfdestruct in 1 week from now: sprend.com/download?C=3c28077ff8ec4af9b9c17994c0d8a15e
Hola amigo, me he quedado realmente impresionado con tu cover. Me ha encantado. Me he suscrito a tu página. Compartimos gusto por TSOM. También tengo una página y hago covers de temas góticos, con partitura y tablatura. Pasate a ver si te gusta. Enhorabuena por el cover. Un gran trabajo. Un abrazo amigo!!!
Thanks! I've subcribed to your CZcams-channel now and am listening to Black planet :) great stuff!
@@tobiasforsner Muchas gracias amigo!!! Estamos en contacto.
💗❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hope this isn't your Last Mission and Revenge. ;)
No, LOL :) 4-5 more Sisters-covers are very close to finished so there's more to come :)
@@tobiasforsner Bring it on. :)
How many guitars can be heard in the original version?
I hear 2 guitars and then the bassguitar on the original version but I might be wrong :)
@@tobiasforsner Thanks. I mean the demo version, of course. The only version that is known. "Wide Receiver" was written in 1984 and was originally supposed to be on the FALAA album. So there was another version, the one from Strawberry sessions. But it's still undiscovered.
