Thank you my friend they are incredible the drummer is one of the best in the world and the bass player and the guitarist geniuses there is a ton af great music they have I will be getting back to you on that great job my friend have an epic day there is a lot of mixed feelings anbout this subject Mike portnoy quit and left the band for another band and they didn’t fire Mangini he left out of respect for Mike Portnoy he quit the other band and wanted to come back after all this years and Mike Mangini agreed to give him respect

This drummer, Mike Mangini, was actually definitely not a favorite among most Dream Theater fans. He was heavily criticized for his exceptionally "mathematical" playing style, almost devoid of groove and emotion, he was called a "robot" and a "human drum machine". He was their second drummer, he joined the band in 2011 and at the end of 2023 he was fired when fans' favorite original drummer Mike Portnoy returned to the band. They are currently writing a new album with Portnoy.
As for the song itself, it's probably the darkest song of their entire career. Here's what singer James LaBrie said about it:
"It's the after-effect of a very traumatic and horrific experience, which is being the victim of rape. I read an article and then I saw a documentary on victims of such a heinous act, and it's really hard for the couples to go on. So, that lyric is about him telling his wife that no matter what has happened, she has to remember that he still loves her as he always has, nothing has been lost, and that she needs to see that he is still the man she fell in love with. He still does not think anything different. He is there for her, and he needs her to rediscover that yes, she has been changed by this act, but at the same time, she has to realize that there is more to her than what this act dictates. So, that's basically what that lyric is about: her trying to salvage the relationship due to that."
Your just a Mike hater he was not hated my Dream Theater fans Mike is a much technically sound drummer than portny any day you don’t know what your talking about fans loved Mike

And just to make sure how much the fans "loved" Mangini, go to the comments under any news article about Mike Portnoy's return and you will see an absolute minority of those who were sad that Mangini was fired.
Mangini is a very technical drummer, but it's not enough to be the best.

Uhh.. no. Dream Theater fans did not "hate" Mangini; but he was not the original drummer so they were glad when Portney returned. They welcomed him back because he was familiar. Human nature.
