The exclusive interview with Julia Baird is from the 2005 British Invasion Rarities DVD. The Beatles instrumental version of Julia was added as the background audio track. The unreleased demo of Julia during the recording sessions for The Beatles White Album follows. The ballad itself was the final track, composed by Lennon and recorded for the 1968 double album. No other Beatle sings or plays on the song. This is the only time that Lennon played solo and sang unaccompanied on a Beatles track.

Wikipedia: Julia Baird is the younger half-sister of John Lennon and is the eldest daughter of his mother Julia Lennon (12 March 1914 - 15 July 1958) and John 'Bobby' Albert Dykins (1918 - December 1965).
John Lennon was born in 1940 during Julia Lennon's marriage to Alfred Lennon. After complaints to Liverpool's Social Services by her eldest sister, Mimi Smith (née Stanley), she handed over the care of her son John to her sister Mimi. She later had one daughter after an affair with a Welsh soldier, but the baby was given up for adoption after pressure from her family. She then had two daughters, Julia and Jackie, with John 'Bobby' Dykins. She never divorced her husband Alfred Lennon, preferring to live as the common-law wife of Dykins for the rest of her life.
Julia Lennon was known as being high-spirited and impulsive, musical, and having a strong sense of humor. She taught her son how to play the banjo and ukulele. She kept in almost daily contact with John, and when he was in his teens he often stayed overnight at her and Dykins' house. On 15 July 1958 at age 44, she was knocked down and killed by a car driven by an off-duty policeman, close to her sister's house at 251 Menlove Avenue. #JohnLennon was traumatized by her death and wrote several songs about her, including #TheBeatles "Julia" and "Mother".

the music is awful, tuneless and loud, disturbs the spoken audio.
Wow. All first heard stuff right here. The interview with his sister and the raw version of the song, Julia. All appreciated.
I'm sure the world would have been a much better place had John survived.
My word she looks so much like her brother. Thanks for this interview Ms Baird.
When I saw this was looking forward to it. But why the background music I’m finding it difficult to here i met her in Liverpool when they where celebrating the year John met Paul it was a great day and night Julia spoke on stage about John it was very interesting the background music is Julia a beatiful song thanks 🙏
Well done it must be hard to talk about you John
I love listening to Julia Baird talk about her family, but she is confused when she says that John's father went to sea at the same time of the Titanic accident. That happened in 1912. Other than that, I could listen to her all day.
Thank you, Ms Baird., I loved John Lennon.
Me too!
She and John have that same nose. There's no mistaking her as John's sister.
My favorite BEATLES JOHN.LOVE YOU
That's true. And I always thought he got his nose from his Dad.
Long live THE BEATLES!
John will forever be with me, the world is missing some thing, the Love, commitment, the knowledge, the music, the life of a great man, Steve
Odd thing is she as John’s nose no question, but that was from his dad, Freddie Lennon, who half sister Julia wasn’t related too.
Love Me Do is beautiful, has trademark Beatles harmonies, their young voices and what have you
She was only half related to John Lennon but she wants to to forget that, always referring to herself as 'John's sister'. She like his money and gifts and was put out that he didn't give her a house that she asked him for.
Doesn't much matter, they shared the same mother....were literally birthed from the very same womb. The only reason they weren't as close as some sibs was due to age difference and John being raised by Mimi rather than Julia. I don't think she's forgetting a thing. Not saying that her recounts are all vividly accurate, but she's one of the few left who know about the family, whether she's admitting it all or not.
Yeah she's full of crap, even John described his mum as a whore
Miss you forever, John 😢
The alternate version of "Julia" sounds like he's playing a guitar with a really high action. It sounds like he's struggling with it.
Probably not him. But whoever it is, it’s too loud - it drowns her out!
He's still making it up and playing with how the guitar part may go. John would make tapes of the progress of a song, from beginning to end and sometimes not have it finished when he brought it to the Studio. There if he had problems with parts of it, usually Paul would help him out and even the other two on occasion. There was a radio show that used to play the evolution of songs John worked on that was fascinating. I would like to hear it again....
Wow, thank you :)
You're welcome!

John once said “No Elvis no Beatles “. I say No Julia Lennon no John Lennon. Bless and RIP John and Julia. Strange but I just happen to have the same name as both John an Paul’s mothers. My name is Mary-Julia!
What a great interview, I didn't even know John had a sister. She reveals a lot that makes you understand John better...
John has 5 siblings: Ingrid, Julia, Jackie (on his mother's side) and two brothers: David and Robin (on his father's side)
He didn't. She was just a half sister with another father.
@@sallyraynor8984 Are you sure? she looks like John in the face....
@@sallyraynor8984 They had the same mother, different fathers.
Wow what a lady
Wow🌟🙏🏻🌟💫💫💫
Thank you Julia! You set the record straight, great job!!
This was good with some Interesting info that I did not know. Thanks
Любим , помним , скорбим .....
Half sister. They didn't grow up together; she is much younger. From everything I've read, they spent very little time together at all. She asked him to buy her a house and he said no. She's said a lot of suspiciously vague and unverifiable things that have lead a lot of people to think that she is only taking advantage of her connection to him. It's strange how she claims to know better than the man about things she was never present for, and contradicting him on his inspirations. She's a grifter.
I agree with Julia that Love Me Do was "rubbish". It was, but it's lauded because it's now known for being The Beatles' debut
Ok, so, she was what back in the day? 14? A teenage expert, so what song from 1963 could you name, which is better? I haven't the foggiest, not being English
@@Bella-nt7ec whatever age SHE was back in 1962, I think it might have been twenty something.
Whatever, she's right in saying it was rubbish, most songs were better.
I thought John’s mother was named Julia. I thought that’s why he wrote the song “Julia” on the White Album.
This isn’t making sense.
His mother's name is Julia. She spent next to no time with John, and never met his mother. His mother died when he was 17, hit and run by an off duty policeman.
And yes, John wrote the song for his mother.
Muzik is too loud.
Indeed! It wrecks the video.

Never knew He had a Sister !!!!
He had 3 or 4 i think
@@DS_portraits 3 sisters to be exact, all half sisters from his Mom. Jackie, Julia, and one of them, Victoria/Ingrid Pederson was put up for adoption as a baby. Also, he has 2 half brothers from his Dad Alfred who married a woman who was 6 years younger than John. The two brothers Robin and David Henry are only 49 and 53 yearsold respectively.
@@DS_portraits He had five siblings
Heavy!!! 😳
Musical bed is TOO LOUD! It’s hard to hear what she’s saying!!

Abandoning seemed to be a thing....what did he do for his family, much less his own son/ fantasy is so annoying...........
Cannot hear, background music too loud. Or do away with the music, will be much better.

Pretty!
Icebergs were around during the war.Its only recently Icebergs are gone with global warming.
love the fact that John's sister was Christened after their mother:
so when she listens to John's 'Julia', she can pretend it's her song, too.
Looks like John got his nose from his mother’s side of the family
I know she wanted that stringy-hair thing going for the interview for effect, but she could’ve washed her hair and combed it a bit and still look like John.
11:33 - 12:05 - THIS is comedy gold. Julia's no fan of Love Me Do.
Music is distracting

Titanic? what?
unbelievable lol
Yeah, that part confused me...
She's completely full of it.
I hate “half sister” I have siblings who only share one parent with me and they’re just my brother and sister . There’s some more mean comments here about “half”
