  • THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY how to get rid of the gaping armhole and add FBA without modifying the rest of the pattern and leaving it in tact. Meaning that you already have everything else positioned where you wanted it - shoulder seam is centered on the shoulder and other elements of the garment are fitting well. There are other FBA techniques that look different to this one.

    Thank you , after my creating easy knit with a sleeve, I made my sleeves long enough to cover my bat wings, I had a gaping on my armhole, back and front, this. Is what I was waiting for after you mentioned it briefly on the last video. 😊 thank you

    Absolutely love this series! I’ll probably never need a FBA, but I still learned something. Wish you a great rest of your weekend, Alisa 😊

    Could you please show how you would make the adjustments for someone with a much larger bust. I find it easier to follow you. Many thanks.

    I was going insane on the armhole because of the same issue. Thank you so much for showing how to fix it. I would like to know though what happens to the sleeve. Should I just ease the armhole to fit the sleeve or there will also be some altering on the sleeve pattern itself?

    Thank you! This is really helpful. Gaping armholes are a common problem.
    Would love to see how you make a baby doll or A-line top with and without sleeves.

      Elky, hello there! Happy this helps. For A-line top just reference the Swing Dress tutorial, shorten the design and you get an A-line top. A-line designs are exactly what it sounds like, whether a skirt, a dress or a top - it is fitted on top and flares to the bottom, so a really easy draft to do and experiment.

    How do you draft a pattern for a poncho type top? I have seen these around and really like them. I know most are made with cotton linen and I have some. Do you already have a video?

    I presume that because this is a self drafted pattern the adjustments will be minimal. If I was trying to do a fba on a commercial pattern I would need a much more drastic adjustment as a dd cup. I wonder what would be the best approach then?

    Hi Alisa, I know I am late to this but I wonder if you could do a video on how to make a dart adjustment for the bigger bust. I have tried and I just can't get it right somehow. Love all your videos. Thank you for all the help you give us.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Před 10 měsíci

      Jo, hello there! Go to my channel and look for a video called "how to understand darts" and that will help you to enlarge the dart. Also at the very end of the bodice block with dart video - I go over some dart information. :)

    I have a question. I'm using a pattern for a dress that has a seam under the bust. The first dress I made fits nicely (although I ended up putting in an actual dart for the armhole gaping issue as I didn't know how to do it otherwise. So I am trying to make the same pattern and after making the gaping armhole adjustment in this video I still have gaping of about the same size. So could this be due to something else? The test fabric has a 25% stretch as does the fabric on the finished dress. I think the test fabric is a lighter weight than the completed one. Any suggestions would be helpful as I'm baffled and frustrated. I tried a FBA and that didn't help - still gaping.

    What do you do if the armpit dart is above the bust? I tried this method (just in case, cuz didn't know) and it brought the armpit hole up too high on the side. Please help!

    Hi Alisa, just a question, using the measuring tape, u marked half of the width of the extra fabric pinned or full width? Just confused by seeing the placement of your measuring tape. Thank you so much.

      Carol, I have a video on how to draft 5 different sleeve types, cap sleeve among them, please go to that video and you will understand how to lengthen the cap sleeve.
