  • The Johnny Mnemonic series has begun. In this episode I will be making very minor repairs and making part replacements in order to get the game to work as intended. I never disassemble a non working game.

Nicely done video. My battery board on my RS started to look like yours as well. I just opted for Frank’s Battery board with the ion battery and couldn’t be happier. Ended up doing that on all my machines so I don’t have to worry about the batteries ever leaking.

Good luck with this Cary, I hope you get more enjoyment from yours than I did mine. I owned a JM for a couple months. I really wanted to like it, but in the end I found the gameplay frustrating. Too much clunk up the middle, and too many side-to-side drains. Felt kinda unfair to the point of being unfun for me. I wonder if they made the game harder so that people would use the buy-a-ball feature. But a lot of people love this one, so maybe it was just me. Still it's not all bad, and don't forget, "Loop it through Jones!"

Some operators remove the ball in hand switch I heard when researching this issue. Just causes issues and works perfectly fine without it. When mine finally broke off I left it out. I have the replacement in the coin box but game works perfectly without it, maybe even better :) Not sure what function it actually has since it does not seem to be required?

You seem to be missing the plastic that sits atop the left ramp. I believe it limits potential airballs

I am right now. I have already been sent a scan for a replacement. Without that plastic your ball will fly on top of the plastic on the far left and directly to the left outlane. Lovely.

Ball in hand error... take the cover off the glove and see if the switch that senses the ball in hand is working. Commonly broken wire because of all the glove movement.

Cary, they have replacement battery holder contacts at Marcos pinball. you can scrap that pitted contact. Search Battery contact plastic holder Williams #01-10884 list for 2.50 each.

Yea, this is a fix without any out of pocket expense that works and will work for a very long time. At least until I do the restoration for it and I do NVRAM anyways.

Why do you fix games in your kitchen?
