  • WRAP DRY CURLY HAIR
For people with curly hair, one of the biggest struggles is how to smooth it out, make it shiny, and keep it healthy. Here’s how to manage your curly hair without taking a lot of time. This will ensure that you get the result you’re looking for without spending two hours styling it.
First, curly hair shouldn’t be shampooed all the time. The dirtier the hair, the easier it is to manage. Try to shampoo your hair less, but condition more. Hair can be conditioned every day, or any time your hair gets wet.
It’s also important to know what products to use. Put a product in that will help hold your hair without making it stiff. Also put in an emollient-based product or oil-based product to help shrink and smooth the hair so it isn’t large and puffy.
    Step one
First, it is important to section the hair. Start at the top of the crown and behind the ears. Since curly hair can be coarse and thick, not only clip it but twist it up and make sure it’s completely clipped and out of the way. Don’t worry if the sections are perfect. Do not let your hair pre-dry at all because it will begin to get curly and fuzzy.
    Step two
Start at the back with a manageable section for you so that you don’t get frustrated. If the hair is very coarse and dense, take slightly smaller sections. If the hair is less dense take larger sections. You’ll want to use a blowdryer on high heat and high blower with a nozzle attachment to direct the airflow.
First, do a ‘lock’. Do this by taking a bristle brush over top of the hair, bringing hair into your thumb, and holding the handle. Then blow-dry down the hair shaft, holding your blowdryer by the body so that your shoulder and elbow don’t get tired. Try to find a comfortable place to hold that blowdryer, wrapping the hair around the back of the head. If you shoulder starts to hurt, make an adjustment to the way you’re holding the blowdryer The bristle brush will keep tension on the hair, pulling it down.
    Step three
To refine the ends, follow through by putting hair in the brush and smoothing it out. To cut corners, you can do most of your hair with this technique and then finish the ends with the flat iron. The idea is to get hair as smooth as possible. If hair is set properly from wet to dry, the result will be a more long-lasting blow-dry, and your hair will be less likely revert back to curls from any humidity. However, if there is any moisture left in the hair, then the wave will creep back into your hair.
    Step four
Once you have completed the back, move on to the sides. Make sure to clip the back sections out of the way so it doesn’t blend with the front sections. Thiswill keep the sections manageable to work with. Work in the same manner, taking horizontal sections. Take your time. If you try to dry too much hair at onceand rush through it, you will have to take more time at the end to fix it.
At the top of the crown you can blowdry the hair while elevating it up to create more volume. For less volume, blowdry the hair downward instead.
    Step five
By the end, if there is any more refinement that needs to be done, go in with a brush, a flat iron, or with a round brush to create a little bevel.
