- Events of 1979 in Los Angeles in chronological order with pictures, videos of interviews, and newspaper articles. Andre Jones, possibly the first gang member killed in South LA in 1979 was seemingly the beginning of a domino affect that seen the Crips target other Crips more consistently and more violently than they did most Blood gangs.

The history of this particular culture within all parts of L.A. is endless! Kev Mac you have a way of telling 💯% facts up close and personal right in our face! L.A. culture runs deeper than anyone can ever imagine! You the G.O.A.T. of this Kev Mac!
Yes yes the real
THE HISTORY CHANNEL CAN'T EVEN PRODUCE QUALITY L.A. GANG DOCUMENTATION LIKE THIS....💯KEV MAC VIDEOS....... THE BEST
🔥👌🏾💯
There are countless Docs made about LA and the murderers called blood and crips.. not sure where you have been the last 25 years.
@@madammo7786 HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING AS GOOD AS THIS.........HATER🧟🧟🧟
Dat part 👍🏾👈🏾💤
I'm from London and learn a lot from this channel I learn the history of black Culture in California you give me feeling, demographics of the times and politics also nostalgia this is a great channel for authenticity and social documentation with a twist of gangster
This Kev Mac documentary series of LA urban culture is just absolutely incredible , produced, documented and edited on a shoestring budget and the most professional and accurate piece bar none, simply brilliant
Now are you watching how it should be done mainstream TV this is the real Colours. Love your work Kev. This channel just trend sets , your way ahead. Can't wait for the next one. Peace 🇮🇪
Perfectly stated 👌🏾🔥
@@larose6551 thanks Lorraine 😊
👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿You said exactly how it needed to be said! 👍🏿
This was incredible!! I love how you Kev Mac make your videos being none bias and telling the history how it actually went. Not trying to discredit our Latino brothers, but I see a lot of comments on these type videos where the Chicano brothers don’t like giving credit to the African American gangs for being a major influence in Los Angeles gang culture which at times can be confusing to some of us out of towners who just wanna know the history. This was great brother, keep up the good work.
Cause they always hate on us, any chance they get. They can be just like white folks sometimes.
@@erikl1372 Well from What I hear, they unite with the racist woods in the California prison system against blacks, so. That speaks volumes.
@@FBA_259 sureños do family
Watched it twice already, so much information packed in here, I wholeheartedly agree with Monster's commentary on the power of the gun and the allure of outlaw culture, America loves its violence, and Hollywood interpreted street gang culture mostly wrong, and the art appeared to imitate real life, but actually perverted it, and added fuel to the fire, KMV I now really see what you said in the early development of this channel, "So goes LA, so goes the nation"...I really get it now
@B4Y SH!T in your opinion, how should I word the shit for you then, I'm just a black man, enjoying another black man's content, nobody said police except you, this is a black history channel, and history is archiving and sharing factual " information", correct me if I'm wrong
I remember going to the State Theater Downtown LA to see BLVD NIGHTS... Everyone was Gd up... #VGV lol Hella classic.
Great investigative work! This short documentary was backed with knowledge 👏 sharing now. Thank you..
Beautiful interview Ms Williams 💙💙💙
Great compilation of knowledge for those unfamiliar with the chronological events that led to not only violent transactions occurring, but politics across many sociocultural and economical factions. This is nicely done and the commentary reflects your professionalism in depicting occurrences amongst LA metro.
Outstanding video! Thanks Kev Mac!
Man you have almost single handedly traced the inception of the blueprint of today's gangs as far as the west coast blacks go,it's growth n spread, and also the damages and all basically first hand info. Great job and impeccable journalism..peace n blessings from TN Kev Mac

I was at that Funk Festival. The best concert ever. That concert went from about 2pm to 11pm.
I can only imagine. I watched the Wattstax documentary at least 10x many gets old.
I was there as well. I consider it to be our Woodstock. It'll never be forgotten.
they should ask more people about the 1979 funk festival for more detailed accounts.
These segments are cool 😎
Interesting bit on Boulevard Nights; That's one of my all-time favorite flicks, never knew the controversy around it, though!

I'm late. But this is 🔥🔥🔥
Kev played some hits last night in the live stream
There was an article in the 70s ,. N it was about the old school impala style car was a one of the common cars for the gangland style homicides that started taking place
Good shit Kev
I remember all that I was 9 years old in the year of 79 and I could remember all that as a kid living on 60th street and going to Hyde park Elm. I remember this girl talking about how a kid name Tyron had been kill and how her mom knew his brother Big Rick. Times were different and real gangbangin was Omnipresent. Even as a kid at 9 years old you had to be tough because 9 times out of 10 when you hung outside on your bike you encounter Gangbangers not gangmembers, and you had to act a certain way around them or you would be a victim by the fist. I remember Peddie Wack,Stone, Baby Face, and Moster kody and his brother Lil Monster and how they use to move, shaping us 80s teens that came up in the crack 80s era....good looking on this video this brought back memories...
Kev.mac is active ✔ 💯
Big Kev you gotta gift big homies! Keep working that big licc coming! We needed this shit right here ! #EG ##Hillz
I WAS IN Y.T.S DURING THE FUNK FESTIVAL MY BROTHERS WENT
Great work Kev ✊🏿
This looks like a big setup to cause the sets to go to war against each other, at least the Crips in particular. Very insightful video, @Kev Mac Videos. #Respect #Love
Nah, the big setup is getting generations of kids into the sets in the first place. There was/is never going to be a positive future for anyone active in any gang.
The setup was dropping cheap dope in the middle of it all.. like a spark in a powder keg

Damn this is strictly L.A. business
Great work OG. Do you think these years are significant- 1986, 1989 ( especially for long beach with 1989)
That WC hook at the end is FIRE still to this day
WOW!!!!!!!! Pulitzer Prize material brotha for real!!!! 🙇🏾🙇🏾✊🏾✊🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Enjoy these brilliant
20:21 I love that the plane's call letters are D-IRTY
NICE BRO!!!$$$😎
Wow, '79 really was the year when everything jumped off and gangbanging was in full swing. And I think it was like that in a lot of other cities as well
Other cities imitated
@@creepnasty5370 ...imitated what ??? A LA was not the only city with brothers living in them circumstances & with the same results ... check Chicago history ... was LA immitating Chicago ??
Boy, Mize's influence would have been hard for me to resist. We all had that one we watched from a far and tried to be like.
I have to go back and re watch Big Mizz interviews. He’s an encyclopedia.
This is the year when crippin tooc on the persona of “we pushed” a different line. It wuz so many wars poppin off. When anie got kilt we never recovered the luv on the rip cyde it still carries over til this day
when y'all started falling out with the hoovers one by one was it straight gunplay or scuffles here and there with hopes of maybe finding a way to squash the shit since you were all hoovers?
Much respect from this northerner homie 💯✊🏾
Strawberry played in Jackson Ms for the Jackson Mets as well
I was n the Penn w/Darryl Strawberry
What area of Inglewood were the "Inglewood C's" located?
Damn foam and too sweet that was deep I know that history
79 was the breaking point of the crips
What about Tarzan from The Tree Tops
1979 was Supa Hella Active an You had to be most definitely On Ya A Game For Sure
Since red Rum and big Wy did the song "1993". That may be a good year to review. 😁
I was just talking about that funk festival tour, I wanted to go so bad but moms wouldn't let me!!!!!
