Starting March 19, 2024, if your spouse or common-law partner is applying for an open work permit, they may be eligible if you are studying in a master's or doctoral degree program in a university or polytechnic institution, or in certain professional degree programs at a university. To prove your enrolment in a degree-granting program, your spouse or partner must provide documents such as a valid letter of acceptance, proof of enrolment letter, or transcripts from your current program. Additional documents may be required to prove your relationship. If your spouse or partner applied for an open work permit before March 19, 2024, or is applying to extend their existing permit, they must meet specific requirements related to your study permit and eligibility for a post-graduation work permit. Starting March 19, 2024, your spouse may be eligible for an open work permit if you are studying in a master's or doctoral program in a university or one of the listed professional degree programs.
If your spouse applied before March 19, 2024, or is applying to extend their existing work permit, they may still be eligible under certain requirements. They must have a valid study permit, be eligible for a post-graduation work permit, and be a full-time student at an eligible institution.

Hi brother, currently i am taking 2nd program in canada and my visa is going to expire in jan 2025. I will finish my study on oct and then can apply for pgwp. But i applied for my wife sowp on dec 1 2023, and still we are not getting any decision. I heard that if the spouse visa (person in canada) is less than 6 months, Ircc reject the visa due to shorter time frame. So, in this case, is there any way that i can say Ircc that even after completing my study on oct, i can apply for pgwp so that they wont reject our file due to less than six month duration cause.?

Sir, i have been accepted in TWU ( VANCOUVER, LANGLEY CAMPUS) but due to late arrival of visa stamped passport, i had to defer from May to September Intake. It's been a month since the arrival of passport and deferment, i am waiting for the confirmation from university regarding acceptance of deferment.
