0:10 "what would happen if an unstoppable epidemic hit our shores?"
2020: Well shit, let's find out
We saw a lot of bravery by health care workers and food service industry. Not a lot of help from the government...except lies and cover ups. We are still stricken.
Man... there are so many stories here that Hollywood could make an awesome movie about....
No movie needed when you just lived through it. As for movies, there have been literally hundreds done on the topic, in order to prep you for the real event, which wouldn't have been possible otherwise.
In 1793, the pandemic came at a most fortuitous time dispersing the British funded riots which the government barely survived.
My teacher is making us watch this because we are in quarantine from corona. LOL
Good lesson for what is happening today. Whether good or bad, history is history. Today people are trying to destroy it. We can never judge history by today's standards. History is so important for us. It should never be erased because the narrative is offensive today. That's not it's purpose. We learn from history. We learn from the good. And it helps us to not repeat the bad.
Please dont tell me im the only one here because I have a book report on the book Fever...
+Smol Bean Queen I remember having projects like this in school (im 22)
But after you realize how interesting things really get in life, and start to wonder things. maybe its just me?
I have to make a trailer so i'm trying to find somewhat type of footage they made resembling then...
This aged well.
long but im using it for my report my book is Fever 1793 and it was really good
I am proud of the African Americans like Sarah Bass and Richard Allen whom are willing to serve or risk their as volunteer for Dr. Benjamin Rush to help treat the sick and infected individuals in Philadelphia during the Yellow Fever.
I'm a born & raised Philadelphian. I'm proud of them also, what I'm not proud of is how blacks in Philly turned the projects of his name sake into one of the WORST places in America.
African Americans only exist when an African gains citizenship in the Americas. If someone is black and born in America, then the person is a black American even though the black part should not be considered important to the person's status as a citizen but to the person's description in times of identification.
I'm reading the book at my school
I don't know why my teacher is showing me this, we are basically LIVING it right now.
What are the best way to kill a virus, a cold temperatures or a really hot temperatures.
What’s interesting about this virus is that unlike the other virus it’s afraid of cold while most virus are afraid of warm. Interesting.
Get to this episode and hear THAT voice and before I know it my brain says..."Oh shoot. Did I put on the news by accident?" Jim Gardner IS the voice of Philadelphia to a lot of people. So glad to see doing other stuff about Philly then just the news.
@@turtleruski1915 he's probably just a hateful person. Smh
If there’s a future animated series about our founding fathers, Jim Gardner should voice Ben Franklin.
@@dchang11 There was "Liberty's Kids" that focused on the American Revolution through the eyes of three kids, and Ben Franklin was voiced by Walter Cronkite.
Most of these comments are from months ago but it’s still going on so now we have to watch it for school lol
Were learning about this at school! It's a really interesting topic

Right here in 2020
Read Fever 1793 in the sixth grade years ago. Now I'm 25 years old and it's still one of my favorite books along with the Diary of Anne Frank. Still cry a little when reading it.
Incidentally, while Spanish Flu was wreaking havoc, Philadelphia decided to ignore health advice in 1918 and hold a Liberty Loans parade, while other cities in the United States were introducing social distancing. Philadelphia was one of the hardest hit cities due to that. It was said that the dead filled the streets, with no one left to bury the dead and no one left to build coffins.
yeah my great great grandpa got a job bringing bodies out of houses then, he was only 18 at the time, he was still alive when my dad was a kid (for some reason all my family on that side had kids at age 20-23) they would drink whiskey before going in because it supposedly make the virus die, aparently it worked because if it didn't i wouldn't be here to tell the story!
Let me guess why you are here: School right? Or maybe because of COVID-19?
I'm here 'cuz of both reasons.
And you? 🤔🤨🧐
how come I have never heard of this? this is such a wondrous story that I have to mention it in my novel.
Kudos! Modus!!! 👏 On All Aspects. From your Factual Portrayal Of The Past, To the Professional And Objective Presenters And Educated Commentators - The Entire Series is Well Organized, Presented, Documented, Filmed - it not only hits my heart and soul deeply, but should be REQUIRED Watching in all Schoolings. Thanks. 👴🏼NoBody

*The Gang manage a pandemic*
I was hoping this was going to be more about the disease
i can't be the only one with an open transcript opened
I wonder if we will have waves of other epidemics directly after COVID?
Starve a fever. Feed a cold.
what does he say at 1:37? " Philadelphia is a .... of the nation, which is to say.." I wanna use a quote but I cant understand what he says!
I'm doing this for school, and I'm doing this for corona... I'm scared as HECK
so we all watched this in class
I bet nobody else clicked on this video to watch on purpose. Everybody is here for school stuff
and yet it already has, 2020-2021
On the whole this is accurate and well done. The costumes however leave a lot to be desired.
Also the responses during this time were nuts including shooting a gun in the air. Now this would be useless and nuts but in the epidemic it made sense and you'd also see people wearing lots of flowers in cases too. Since people back then don't have info on viruses like we do now. No flush toilets then and life expectancy short. You wouldn't want to be living then.
i got that book report
Wow
Here because at school I’m reading The Fever
This makes it sound like GW just decided to move the capital from Philly to DC but it’s a much better story.
same here why they do not have medicine for it
Jason Songg it was tin 1793 the thermometer and stethoscope had not been invented along with medicine. if u dont know about it i suggest u read the book fever to learn more.
Jason Song it is because in 1793 do you think they would have medicine when they were still leaving there food out with something on top to cover it when it was winter not to be mean or anything but IF YOU READ THE BOOK you would now a lot more
Also the medical knowledge wasn't there either. Plus the conditions back then aren't like what we have now. Diseases really had a fun time in the past.
+Kelly Chuang When I mean diseases having fun means wrecking havoc and death on people. Since things like disease and nature don't care for borders.
+Valerie Chico You got that right plus the treatments for ailments like this and others weren't all that great. Aside from bloodletting there were other treatments that were way worse such as having someone ram a hot poker into you and others. Doctors were very much left to be skipped back in the past especially in this time and you just took your chances with quack cures.
How many of you are here for PR ms AcaDeca?
O No was ninja me too
Bogos binted ?
I see all of the school comments and im like yea. BUT WHY THE HECK DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE IS SO NASTY!!!! not to be rude and all.... its just... ew. lol
why does he sound like morgan freeman?
This was less than two years after the Bill of Rights was ratified, so there ought to have been a lot of legal precedent set about government powers to restrict individual liberties for the good of the people.
watching this post covid lol
Book report on fever 1793 y’all
Reside ....Across the street from The Lazaretto (Medical Building).......Lazaretto was built during this time. . On The Delaware River.....Built to Hold. Immigrants arriving from the Globe into Philadelphia............with Yellow Fever.............

So the introduction aged poorly.
Anyone here from corona?
who else is here for a fucking book report 😐
And thus coronavirus was born
God's punishment on the wicked, all the major colonial giants. It's spiritual. 1720, 1820, 1920, 2020. Back for the generation that were spared but never kept their promises. Black victims were the dedicated helpers/nurses and those that were experimented.
(Everytime the blacks reach out desperately to their ancestral god) the most high God is in charge of all. The blood reaching out, just like the story of Cain and Abel. You won't repent, Blood/DNA speaks louder, has invoked ...You introduce God, the Bible-Jesus Christ; Every Word of God in the Bible was taken and learnt seriously by those slaves. The Power and
Justice of God Lord Almight is real. Time for the left wicked generation, the elderly. You used and called Him for selfish reasons, then rejected Him; Vanity upon Vanity. Apocalypse.
1920 is a bit of a misnomer, as the Spanish Flu actually started to wreak havoc in 1918. Incidentally, Philadelphia decided to ignore health advice in 1918 and hold a Liberty Loans parade, while other cities in the United States were introducing social distancing. Philadelphia was one of the hardest hit cities due to that.
TWO PHILADELHYS = ONE WITH NOT BELIEVED ON THE TEN COMMENDEMEN ONLY MONEYS
im forced to watch this video
It's a Shame, like daily Every Person here on Earth is Dieing daily, but Still the Evils of Today are Undeniably at a Loss. A Loss. Why I say that, because they tender to live the life as if they are here for ever. They are unfortunately Mislead.
Covid-19 and or Covid - 2021
Hey these comments have been taken over by the Kool Kids Klan. Now bow down to our lord Doge
This = old carona
& what does the black ppl do in return for Richard Allen's progress?.....turn the projects of his name sake into one of the WORST projects in America. Smh
I know...the heinous reputation made me research Richard Allen as a child like who is he. Hell they turned Octavius Catto school into a behavior school for "bad" kids
brah this might as well be the corana
