- Cult Leader (USA) and Lo! (Australia) are two of the most original, creative and brutal bands that harness extreme metal and hardcore in new ways. All members spoke to host Christina Rowatt about the unique way each band works together, how drums and guitar behave differently, making music with legendary heavy producer Kurt Ballou of Converge, some truly ridiculous rock stories, why human power is the only thing worth believing in and why the old idea of rock stardom needs to die. This is an edit of a couple of hours of conversation. Hope you enjoy!

Casey Hansen is the man, i met him at a show and he took his time to have a short chat with me. Nuff said about rock stardom!! Such a cool guy! 🤘🏽🤘🏽Cult leader 4evaa!!
Rad! And yes indeed. So stoked you watched it to the end, it was meant to be enjoyed that way. Thank you!
Same here, I still have the sticks he gave me
I'll say it once again, you're the best interviewer out. Bloody love cult leader, saw them in NZ and although it was a small crowd and you knew they were losing cash making the effort it was the most visceral music experience i've ever had. Pouring every inch of themselves into their art, extremely respectable. One of the bands that can still chuck me into a genuine state of "high/low/miserable on music".
Thank you so much!! And so glad you had that experience ... agree, they are an INCREDIBLE band that take you down some amazing emotional tunnels :)
I really appreciate you for making this. I had wondered about Cult Leader's personalities because of how dark they are musically. This fed my curiosity. Also really like Lo! now as well. The only thing I love more than watching bands play live is hanging with them and this gave off that vibe. Thank you for making this!
This was a fucking great interview! Keep exposing amazing bands cause i'm a massive Cult Leader fan but I've never heard of Lo! And I will check em out for sure!
I absolutely love your questions. These are the kinds of things I wanted to hear from Cult Leader about what their art means to them. You made me a fan of Lo! as well. Once I heard "Be excellent to each other," I knew I had to sub. Party on, dude.
I totally appreciate all the work it took to ask such good questions and to edit this together. Keep up the super good work!!! Love these bands and their perspectives really compliment each other.
mellowpunker thank you so much! I appreciate u watching, it makes it hella worthwhile to introduce the wildly talented humans who make good shit to the world ❤️
great interview, fucking love Cult Leader and the people behind it
Great interview work!!! Couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Such good work. Please dont stop what you're doing!
That means so much dude! It takes a lot of work to do, but I just wanted to make you guys feel closer to them, and also wanted to get to know the legends who made such killer music.
This was good and fresh! I have always liked your interviews they always seem like conversations instead of interviews and you alway make the person feel at ease. It was with the Slayer and Dillinger interviews.
Thanks so much! That is definitely my intention. And glad you dug those! The Dillinger guys have always been awesome chats and Slayer guys couldn't have been more rad to speak with. Appreciate you watching them, and stopping by :)
The Void with Christina you get to know them better through your interviews. Keep it up! I live in LA and I hope run into Greg at some point Assuming he still lives in LA. :)
Such a great interview
Wow really good interview! Great questions and two great bands with great answers!!!
Thank you! I actually shot 3.5 hours with the guys then crafted it down to 20 minutes, it was a mission. So stoked you guys are digging it, it is made with love!
Interesting episode concept, loved it!! Cult leader rules 🙌🏿🤘🏽
Thank you!! It was a blast to shoot and edit. Good humans, sick tunes!
This interview is just amazing, both bands are really good and Christina is really informed about what they do. 20 minutes that seem like if they were 2 because of the dynamic conversation. Congratulations for the work to all the people involved on it
Thank you so much! It was a 100% one woman show (outside the bands) so very stoked you liked the work! I just want to do the best chats I can for you guys with the artists I think are the most special. Appreciate you trusting me enough to embrace some long-form!
@@TheVoidwithChristina Excellent Work then, Christina. Really looking forward to watch more of your work. Greetings from Mexico.
Good work! Refreshing interview approach - scope for a "part 2" perhaps?
Thank you! A part 2 is definitely in scope - I spoke to everyone for 3.5 hours total, haha. I was thinking perhaps the full drummer interview would be a good next release? I gotta get out a few other videos and take a breather from the material for a sec though, this edit has been haunting my dreams for the last few weeks. Thanks so much for watching :)
God I loved this, thank you!
Thanks so much man! I worked real hard on it. Thinking I'll release the extended version of the drummer interview soon :)
What a great band. Saw them live in Straßbourg on this european run and talked a bit with them! Nice fellas
So sick! I loved the record and it was even better live!
*Between two musicians
I liked watch you more than bands :)
thank you but the bands are super rad too! Check out their music also :)
I listen to cult leader daily, insanely overrated.
