Good video! I learned a lot about fixing a "real world" problem. Many videos are just installing a new sump pump. This was diagnosing problem and figuring out where pipe, elbows and check valve need to go. Thanks!

When My pipe wrench starts slipping like that, I bust out the knipex Pliers. Those things lock on like nobody's business! Good Job Steve!!!

    Steve, according to Zoeller ...
DO I NEED TO DRILL THE 3/16" (5 mm) VENT HOLE?
If a check valve is being used we recommend drilling a vent hole. This hole is located in the basin between the pump and check valve usually a few inches above the pump "on" level but below the pit cover. The vent hole will prevent air locking from occurring.

Gotta love the people who think they're the only customer you have, and you should be bending over backwards with your schedule to accommodate them.

The lighting that you're using at 20:03 minutes is great, you should use that lighting set up. More often in dark places, the basements are always dark.

Love your informative videos Steve including the BBQ videos as well. Been watching them for a while but I thought check valves have to be installed vertically as water can leak horizontally. I always love the “why do you wear gloves comments” or things like “she’s a pumping”. LOL
Edit: Oh saw the close up at the end that said the end up of used horizontally

why has no one commented on the fact you took some paper work off the top of the customers box of paperwork and put it on the wet ground so you could put ur knee on it so ur pants would not get wet

You should stop buying the automatic Zoeller pumps. The general consensus is that the switches will last a maximum of 5 years, after that they fail. PED (Power Equipment Direct) sells non-automatic Zoellers bundled with Levelguard switches. Its a bit more money but if you check out Levelguards youtube, they have a live stream of the switch cycling with a pump. Its over 4 million cycles and counting. This combination of Zoeller pump and Levelguard switch will last 20-25 years, and the Levelguard switch has built in pump protection so that even IF the switch fails, it won't overrun the pump ruining it. I would look into those switches.

The 2nd pump kicked the GFI because the float switch was stuck! Unless you just didn't show turning the pump so the float was free? Its popped again from running dry?

I had a hole in my Zoeller, and the float switch went bad after 12 years. I went with the 1/2 horse power Ridgid 500 RS, with a no clunk back check. They give a three year warranty. $200.00 at The Depot.

gfci + sump pump = bad idea. I always install a regular grounded outlet with no gfci protection.

Sometimes a motor trip with no fault can happen if there is low voltage in the area, like in the morning when everyone is boiling kettles heating water ect. very annoying! Don't you wear knee protection steve? some creaking from my knees nowadays.
