Note: Evoking the visions of John, the Revelator, this African-American spiritual, "O! What a Beautiful City", depicts the twelve gates of the city, representing eternal freedom. Shawn Kirchner’s arrangement combines the traditional spiritual with a rhythmic “alleluia” ostinato inspired by the Ukrainian Orthodox church, reflecting the image of the “universal city” in the song’s text.
