@@Iflie I mean a LOT of Japanese and Korean hairstylists also go for almost exclusively a straightened hair or a bang cut with slight wave/bob. It was difficult to hav them to do different cut when I lived there.
@@redmanish Yeah they have pretty strict ideals of beauty versus individuality. I have seen some curly braid styles before in Japan but they are also very trend sensitive. Curly hair needs more love but you have to know how to treat it, usually letting it dry naturally is the way so a hairstylist can't do that much in a salon. Even combing it wet can effect the curls and make frizz instead.

Her hair is definitely at least wavy, but in her other hair videos they treat it like straight hair and style it straight. I think it's much more likely that the hairstylist herself has wavy hair, so she understands more about working with that kind of hair.

I love how whenever you get a personal service in Japan they always explain what they are doing and why and even instruct you on how to do it yourself. I find here in Australia, services like hair and makeup are almost gatekept by the people that supply the service, they barely talk and if they do it's to try and sell a product.
I'm from Melbourne and I completely agree. Other services are pretty much silent and hair stylists would much rather talk about everything going on in my life.
Yes! Same in Sydney. The "care" factor is definitely a beautiful Japanese touch, I feel like that aspect would be evenly as satisfying as the hair styling 💅🏽💕

My favorite part about these videos is how the service ladies always describe what they're doing. I get really anxious in salons because there's a lot happening, and it's hard for me to feel settled. I would feel much more relaxed if they said each step of what they were doing as they did it.

You have the BEST hair type for this kind of video! Just enough texture that when heat tools are used you can really see it transform. It holds a wave or curl well, and doesn’t just slide out of every style. Please do more videos like this!

This made me appreciate my hair more. So many times i wish it was straight or I am redoing the back because of the stick up hairs, baby hairs, curly everywhere. Hairstyle reminds me of a Disney princess who spends her days running through the woods and talking to the animals, like a wood nymph. Interesting they use the word menu in Japanese, as far as I know we only use that for restaurant menus in the US. We usually say services, treatment options, etc.

It seems to have the same habitual feeling as "you've worked hard" or "thank you for your hard work" that ends interactions. I haven't seen anyone else comment on this before and I, too, am interested in knowing more about this social nicety!

Like, sort of ritual/automatic? You could still mean it sincerely, but even if you didn’t, you should still say it, like saying ‘how are you?’ In the US. Does that make sense at all?
