That Amythist is so cool! I'm glad you gave her some more screen time. After you got Charlie Cosmo, I got two more sculpts, previously thinking I was done. 😅 But at least they were both sculpts I had been interested in having for a long time now. I hope "R" isn't for "return!" 😂

The first one that arrived in my nursery, Vincent Gray, an offspring of Pennywise 2017, he is painted all over in acrylic, I think. He’s got a slight stick to him like your Peter does and since he’s a clown, he’s caked in “makeup” all over. I was never shy about handling him or changing him at first but I am now. Because he has a wig instead of being rooted and that wig keeps trying to come off. The paint seems to stay. But then again, he was originally painted in a way like the makeup was sort of coming off so it’s hard for me to tell.
With the air dry paints, I feel more scared. 😱 I try not to handle them as much. I feel like with the heat set paint that the paint feels like it’s stuck on there (even though I know rub off totally exists with both types of paints). I went ahead and put the fairy and spidee on a shelf. I was going to sell them, but no one was wanting them… but eventually someone did but I just couldn’t do it! 🤪 Anyway! I bet your baby is so cute though! 😜🥰

I’m not huge on alternatives but that is a super cute little elf(?) baby. My issue is the there are babies I THINK I’m ready to part with but two things hold me back 1. Not being able to get back what I paid. I know no one buys dolls with the intention of selling them, but I’d at least like to get close to my money back to further fuel the addiction.😜 2. Extreme fear of seller’s remorse. It’s not like if I regret my choice to sell I can go out and rebuy an identical baby. I think the reason there is so much impulse buying in this hobby is because every doll is a one of a kind. If you see something you love you don’t really have a lot of time to sleep on it because someone else could swoop in and buy it at any time.
Yes Heather! You hit the nail on the head. I wish I would've saw this before my video with Sandra last night. We talked about the dolls being one of a kind and fear of missing out and the impulse buying. 100%. I used to be fearful of selling my babies, knowing I'm not going to get what I paid for them. At this point, I am really trying to refine my collection and I also know folks are not buying like they once did. For me to execute my plan of refining my collection, I find myself feeling like I have to sell for much, much cheaper. Thank you so much for this!

Listen! I’m going through the same thing. I’ve been on the reborns web site and I haven’t seen any that I’ve got a strong pull to but I know I’m going to the doll show next weekend and I bet that I’ll be coming home with a little baby. I’m so excited!!!!! The urge to get a baby NOW is strong so I’m having to try to NOT look at babies for sale. I’m having to reinvent the way I interact with what I have already!!!! 🌺🌸

I am so looking forward to this series. Amethyst is such a pretty fairy, all wore out from being the best baby fairy she can be. So cute! I am not sure if she was the one I saw for sale or if it was her twin, but she is so pretty. Right now I am fangirling over the Peeka sculpt, eyeing on getting her to one day paint.
I think this will be a really great series coming up, I can't wait. Oh the rabbithole(s) you can go down with those letters...
Me I collect all kind of dolls, at the present my oldest doll is from 1906 newest agewise is I think Emma from PG. Sometimes I have collected a certain set of dolls, because I have a granddaughter, but she hasn't been drawn to their style, unlike her mom who was. And after a lot of consideration I have decided to only keep a very select few from this series/company that struck my heart and pass the others on to (a) home(s) where they will not be just shelf sitters, some for shipping plus materials, others for some more because they were and still are expensive. Other dolls get donated, as people do give me dolls to fix/spa and then change their mind.
Keep us updated on the whole topic of what to do when a sculpt looses paint and what can be done, not every baby artist is still findable or still practicing. I have heard such various contradictory opinions that I am confused. I also know that what kind of paint is used (heatset vs air dry (and the types of those vary greatly)), what method was used in the painting process (thin washes and primary colors, vs premixes skin shades) and how it has been processed (how often "baked" vs how long let set by air dried), all has an impact on fixing them or the initial lose of paint.
I screenshot this comment because this is something I’d like to touch on. I’m working on my first reborn I got almost 3 years ago! She’s going to be in a video in the future when I finish with her if it all works out!
