One might say this run is a bit shellfish. But I think not. I pulled a mussel cheering for MDB to finish strong. While Krabby is good in a pinch, I had my reservations, and I'm glad you clawed your way to victory!

Yeah, abilities like Terravolt basically ignore defensive combat abilities, not just let attacks hit. So Body Slam can paralyze through Shield Dust, you can do full damage through Multiscale, you can one-shot through Sturdy, etc..There is just so much space in the description box.
How do you one-shot Sturdy?
@zachtwilightwindwaker596 Abilities like Turboblaze, Terravolt, and Mold Breaker let the user ignore Abilities' effects in battle. So defensive Abilities like Sturdy, Shell Armor, and Water Absorb don't work.
You say this, but they changed the wording in the most recent generation: "The Pokémon's moves are unimpeded by the Ability of the target."
Why mold breaker is considered slept on in some circles. Can sometimes mess up some ability starts.
It even hits through wonder guard

@@Abdus_VGC I’m aware of the basic effects of Teravolt, but much like Mold Breaker and as MDB said himself, the description given in-game prior to Generation 9 does not imply that it removes Battle Armor’s crit protection, only that Abilities that would prevent a move from being effective are negated.
I remember my first Nuzlocke learning that....when Kyurem critted my Battle Armor Drapion.

I love the unusual SEA and undersea Pokémon like Krabby/Kingler, Lanturn, Huntail/Gorebyss, Relicanth and Mantine. A run with either of them or maybe an undersea run would be cool
At least Krabby wasn't a Water/Rock type, otherwise you'd have had the same issue against Cheren's Serperior as you did during that Onix run, where a level 100 Onix was getting completely annihilated by a level 53 Slowbro.

Anyway can you do a heracross only run?
A Heracross run probably works best in Emerald. Challenging enough as far gym battles go, but good coverage and stats will do the work.
A Pinsir-only run looks more appealing, tho.

When she got her teeth removed, we couldn't get her to shut up. She went very very pale with her lips bright red. Looked like a vampire after a meal. Took her longer to heal cause she was an awful patient and wouldn't listen to us about shutting up and letting her mouth rest.
Mind you, after my own removal of wisdom teeth, my mother had the bright idea to feed me a peanut butter and blackberry milkshake "Needed protein somehow" ... It was thick to the point of causing the bleeding to start all over again and the seeds got in the stitches ... so yeah ...
Man that's brutal. I'm so lucky, I've had no pain! The healing has been super easy. I've been doing Protein smoothies with peanut butter but I specifically didn't use mixed berries because of the seeds for that very reason

Time for a little lesson.
The signature abilities of Reshiram and Zekrom is basically the ability Mold Breaker. Hence why Shell Armor failed to protect you against that crit Fusion Bolt. That ability is actually kinda broken. For example. A Pokemon with Water Absorb as an ability essentially makes its weakness to Water an immunity and heals them as a benefit. Mold Breaker ignores that which means it can be hit by Water moves unless the Mold Breaker user is switched out or K.Oed. Mold Breaker can also remove the effects of Clear Body and Contrary. But be cautious, it can also remove the effects of bad abilities.

mdb mentioning that it'll be difficult to fight anything that has good special sttack and grass/eletric made me sad. i just finished a geodude only run in diamond a few days ago. i was level 21 grinding double battles in the forest before the grass gym, STILL getting one shot by budew out speeding me and using absorb...
Getting two of my teeth pulled was the worst thing I've ever experienced. Your nonchalance about that is wild. lol
Got my wisdom tooth pulled off months ago and it was the most agonizing experience in recent memory. The worst part is that, despite the advice of not talking to ease the pain, my family couldn't stop calling me on the phone and I couldn't say nothing by gargled nonsense.
Guess it varies... I had three wisdom teeth & one extra (it was next to a wisdom tooth and it was hoped by pulling that one, the wisdom one would be able to grow [spoiler: it didn't]) pulled and it wasn't fun by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't too bad. Maybe a week's recovery, in terms of being able to speak & eat solid foods again and by three weeks, I was back to normal. Everyone's different, hope all goes well for MDB.
It varies wildly by how the roots are laid. Not close to your nerves, just a toothache. Roots grown down to near that primary nerve? I've tumbled down a flight of stairs multiple times, broken limbs, walk with a cane now...and I'd do it again without hesitation before reliving the few lucid moments I remember off those meds.
Got my wisdom teeth out a few years back. It was annoying but not horrible. That was in the states. A few years after that I was in el Salvador and got a few more bad ones pulled there. It was much better there.
Here is an idea “Can I beat Pokemon Red with only ‘Blast Boom Destruct and Bomb’ like Moves!
If you start with Voltorb you get Sonic Boom at level 17 making it possible from the start of the game. Plus in Gen 1 it hits Ghosts for some reason.
It would be funny and stupid and interesting! Would love to see a video of it.
Moves you could use: Explosion, Self Destruct, Fire Blast, Egg Bomb, Sonic Boom, Spike Cannon, Pin Missile, and Smoke Screen.
Every Gen 1 move related to explosions!

Mold Breaker, Teravolt and Turboblaze work like this: if the opposing Pokémon's ability would have any direct effect on the move you're using, the ability is ignored.
So yes, Zekrom will deal Critical Hits through Shell Armor.

MDB, the next time you do a Gen V run with a first-stage Pokémon, remember that Eviolite is a thing: it would've probably saved you from a lot of KOs.
As for the Hitmons Gen I run, the way EVs (or whatever they're called in Gen I and II) work, it might be easier than you think.
A small, frail crab has more than 2x the attack strength than a giant rock snake.
Really enjoyed this run. Loved seeing you run my favorite pokemon.

I should be good! I got the teeth out yesterday and I'm doing great. Literally no pain, just a tiny bit of jaw soreness in the muscles when I open my mouth wide. I should be ready to do voiceovers again in a couple days!

They are soooo fun to use and mdb just proved it. Like bro just flips over and dies to Scald while Sparks barely scratch it. Gen 1 has a swords dance tm which makes Kingler sweep, like, everyone except Agatha with Body Slam and Surf. It's hilariously busted, dude

Giga Drain has base 75 power in Gen 5. Not sure why you said it wasn't a very strong move.
Well, because it's not a very strong move. It's a good move, but it's not "very strong". I'd consider something maybe 90+ to be strong. Gen 5 giga drain is a useful move for sure, but I'm not exactly using it as my big heavy hitter.
A "very strong move" would be above 120. A strong move is like 80-110. Giga Drain isn't known for its power, but by its healing.
You called Brick Break strong despite it also having base 75 power.

Fun fact on Gen 1 Hitmonlee: in Gen 1, crash damage for missing Jump Kick and Hi Jump Kick is only 1 HP because, as expected, it's bugged in Gen 1, so Hitmonlee is actually amazing in Gen 1 (if you're using those moves, at least).

I'd love to see a No Evolution Line challenge series. Would be cool to see how it "evolves" throughout the games. Onix is only available in gen 1 since gen 2 onward Steelix exists
I think it'd be a lot harder for you, in the Black/White runs specifically, if, in the instance that the Pokemon you're using is a Water/Grass/Fire type Pokemon to, instead, pick the type *YOU* beat to replace. For example, if you replaced Tepig with Krabby, Cheren's ace would be Samurott, a Water Type, and he'd have a Simisage in the late game, while Bianca's ace would be Serperior. This means neither of them would be easy as opposed to only Bianca being relatively easy.
Alas, Krabby was not the prophecised chosen one to finally defeat Alder. Maybe in the next B&W run...
I always loved Krabby and Kingler, they aren't the fastest or specially tanky, but having the ability to prevent crits or prevent its monstrous attack stat from being lowered is nice

It was a good run, for me the challenges with Pokemon from different regions of the game are always a must see, but i always wonder why don't you try the Cynthia battle in Undella Town in the Unova games? It is similar to the Steven Stone battle in Emerald and if I recall correctly it has no requirement. Although this one with Krabby would be hard considering that she opens with a Spirtomb with will-o-wisp so it will have to be a one shot

I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is.
For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.
I'm going to guess that you're going to start Red with Hitmonlee otherwise you're gonna have a bad time if you have to Comet Punch every thing for the first third of the game.
I'm surprised that this run was much easier than I expected.
Tip for the extraction: you can add tofu to any smoothie to boost the protein content without changing the flavor.
I always love gen 5 runs and using one krabby is definitely an interesting choice.

At least Hi Jump Kick hits decently hard & u dont get any recoil at all, so u actually have a hart hitting fighting move with Hitmonlee
Literally meditate HJK,body slam and seismic toss will get him through every fight
I for one would recommend that if someone is going to get any wisdom teeth removed, they might as well just get all of them removed and get it over with so that it won't be a hassle again in the future.

If you have to get those teeth pulled, I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as mine did when I got mine pulled out. I went to the MN state fair with some friends the day after for 8-10 hours and was back to eating normal after about 3 days.

Teravolt and its clones basically makes moves ignore abilities. Ground moves can hit levitate users, Shedinja can't survive anything that isn't normal or ghost, basically any instance where an ability can impact a move in any way is fully ignored.
