- Spraying over an existing knockdown texture so I can get it to a level 5 finish (aka smooth wall or in this case ceiling)
Using a Mark 5 Hd sprayer
Graco 6-21 tip
Usg Plus three mud thinned down to a little bit thicker than texture mud consistency.
The Mark 5 me and a buddy used in a high rise to spray mud directly on concrete ceilings then we wiped it down with a skim blade on a pole. Two coats and Mint love this sprayer👌👌

Hey Dan. Just came over from Facebook and subscribed. Pro tip: you might want to avoid putting your finger by the tip. Believe it or not you could end up in the hospital and even lose a finger if you accidentally hit the trigger with your finger by the tip.

At T.P.Acoustics ,, we have been spraying light coat of mud to obtain the level 5 finish , you have to be patient at first and even spray , 1/8 layer and do it correct , even , watch your mud , we used +3 watered down just right ,, and even strokes and you’ll see especially if you have to sand a lot
I was really hoping there would be a part two showing the sanding and finishing of this. Was it a success or a bomb? I’d be afraid that the old texture would blister from all the moisture from thinning it down that much. How did it turn out?

I want to rent this set up for a home project can you go over the specifics like any settings / adjustments over the sprayer and what tips I can use? Also I need to know should I add water to the mud was going to get the all purpose mud. I am doing a space that curves off in all directions especially over head and using the roller sucks.
Its a graco Mark 5, I used medium pressure , Usg plus3 mud thinned down with 2 cups of water to loosen it up
I went to college to do collision work. That was only 2 years of my major which was to run dealerships and manufacturing plants. Your not spraying this right. Your supposed to go straight across without stopping. Go all the way from one end of the wall to the other end of the wall don't stop. Then use 50% overlap.👍
I’m not spraying paint, this is drywall mud going thru the airless.
@Drywall Mentors - MudManDanGray I know but I can clearly see what your doing wrong. You can not stop. Just try to go clear across without stopping then come back across 50 percent coverage without stopping. I really did go to college for this and you still won't listen. I'm just trying to help you.
You can't just stop in random places wherever you feel comfortable. I'm just being a coach that's all. I bought rehabbed and sold hundreds of properties trust me I know. I'm cringing watching you.

Did you just leave it sprayed? And come back spray another and sand or are you wiping it with that blade in the background
