He was big in Europe, especially in London & Amsterdam. Here in his hometown of Dallas (where he continued to live) he was pretty much unknown. I saw him several times at Poor David's Pub & The Sons of Hermann Hall & once at The Deli in Norman, OK. . .Incredible shows!
I was at this performance (friends with High Noon, who were backing up Ronnie Dawson here). It was so much fun--a big group of real kool kats and kitties took over the studio audience (that's what Sean Mencher is saluting at the end). If I remember correctly, High Noon was on tour with Ronnie and Lisa; they had played a couple NYC shows before this appearance which were just fantastic. Ronnie was cool as, and High Noon are unbelievable musicians as well as great guys. Fond fond memories...
i saw him at the Back Stage in Ballard ,Seattle , right about this time , Amazing singer and guitar player incredible performer, and Lisa Pankratz is totally amazing on the drums , Man that girl can play drums , one of the best for sure ,
My gal and I used to go see him at the local when we turned 21 and well before, with a bit o luck, back in the day, in Kentucky. I knew his blonde bomber bits when I was a teenage roustabout. He was absolutely enigmatic and electrifying; a perfect gentleman and the flat-out best. My gal snapped the best front-row pictures of Dawson with a disposable camera but looking back, you just couldn’t lose. He was always on fire with the monkey beat. Love his soul, dearly ⚡️❤️⚡️

I saw him at a club in Fort Wayne, IN in 2000 I think it was. The club double booked 2 events for that night. There was a large group of people that showed up to do square dancing and then Ronnie came on stage so the group stuck around and danced their asses off to his music funny to watch but wish could have videotaped it, the girls were awesome as was Ronnie! RIP Ronnie....
Lisa Pankratz is the absolute bomb. She got looked over for being a woman, but was/is probably one of the best drummers in town.
I have no idea how many times I have watched this. If there's a better four minutes of television, I'd like to see it. Fucking awesome.
