Just wish it was cheaper, I love drum mags because they look so cool with almost every Blaster
To bring down the cost I think it would really need to be mass produced.
I got one, and once you get the loading down it's not too bad. I really dig it. The design is amazing and the build wasn't too much of a bear. Highly recommended if you've been waiting for a half dart drum mag.
The symbols on it help a lot
@@BradleyPhillipsYT yeah they look like gibberish but after the first time you load it they make perfect sense
I don’t play with nerf anymore, but I still like to check in on the community to see what innovations people come up with and wow, I am far from disappointed.
Just glad someone solved the puzzle and made a reliable drum. Price is very reasonable for the engineering into it
tho having to pay for the 3d model is kind of an ultimate crime... time to make an open source copy by myself~
I love my MDM. I have used it with my Caliburn, DZP Mk. 3, and my stock X-Shot Pro Longshot. I haven't had a single problem. Loading does get easier the more you do it. Like you suggested, I use my MDM as my opening magazine then switch over to Talon stick mags for the balance of the match.
Using it as the opening mag definitely makes the most sense.
You run through more than 50 darts a round?
My actual thinking was "If Bradley Phillips found the complexity daunting, and held off on assembly, I will never stand a chance of mustering up the will to assemble one." lol
To anyone watching this and thinking that it is a pain to load, let me assure you it is not. I have one and by the 3rd reload, it comes naturally and i dont even look at the instructions. Really a piece of engineering.
That edit at 18:22 was sick
I was thinking about getting one of these. Thanks for posting this video, super insightful. It seems to me the loading time and complexity still need some work at this point. Going to hold off on this one.
I got you. With experience, loading a 51 drum takes me 1minute 40seconds, 17seconds longer than what Bradley Phillips achieved with normal talon magazines. Regarding complexity, I think this is a challenging concept even to myself. Numerous simpler design options and iterations did not make the cut as they performed poorly from the constrains surrounding foam darts, such that the present design is actually the "simplest" and reliable form.
@@MrCreativEzekiel thanks for your response. I love drum magazines…going to grab one and try it for myself.
It's cool that something like this exists seeing how the majority of nerfers out there have given up on drum mags. Very Nice
Your example of loading normal talons versus the drum gets even crazier when you have EZE's dart loader. It seriously cut down on the time that I've spent loading up mags for games, and I know that is a huge factor that increases time between rounds.
I haven't seen the Eze loader but I know a lot of Singapore players use it. Might have to check it out sometime
Thanks, Bradley. Lots of good info in this video. Looking forward to that unicorn review.
The Unicorn will be next week!
great product but loading this thing just seems way too painful for me
I figured that would be the thought of some people. Hence why I wanted to really show that in the video.
Playing with this should be tons of fun! Great review and build guide!
Man, having a few of these would make suppressing fire so easy.
I'm hoping these become mass produced and injection molded.
This drum is best used in a pistols only rd where you can use the aeon pro. I can't think of another "pistol" that can use it. Maybe a modded adventure force night attack.
Seems like something I’d like to buy out of sheer challenge 😂. Don’t have much use for it since I mostly use springers, but a short dart drum is something I wanted to have for ages.
Thanks for the helpful overview! My son really wanted one until he saw how tricky it is to load.
really cool but definitly overengineered in a way but im down for that kinda thing. but I probably wont get one for a while or until I get myself a dedicated half length flywheel primary
Drum mags to me are just a way to get around reloading so much. Needing more than one drum in a typical match before respawning doesn’t seem likely unless you like to mag dump
thats genius work behing it, but the fact that it is 3d printed is a deal breaker for me. If the day comes where this get injection molded (or even better, CNCed) i would buy some no matter the price tag
Overcomplicated, just to get an insane feeding speed that is fun , but not that useful. A 30 dart drum would be better for springers, 50's good for the flywheelies. NERF did it years ago for full length darts, wonder why we haven't seen it from DZ or worker yet for have short darts with the huge amount of blasters fo short darts now on the market. I'm not counting the tomcat, it's the prime example why a too big drum mag is not good for 150+ springers. Until then i'll stick with 15+ talons
Pretty nice! Have you tryed out any of Out of Darts mags? Tachis and Kodas
I haven't tried those, I think they are a little too long to be practical
0:04 yes, 100 Shots at 300 feet per second on Full Auto. Or maybe Even 150 Shots.
I think if the designer was able to make the drum split open so you wind it remove the back or front plate, load the darts in so their resting in there then close the cover and realise the tension lock it would be a much better experience
This was considered early in the designing stage, however magazine weight, stiffness and durability were factors that lead to the present design.
Great video, I would love to see an injection molded 1, I play at a parkour gym and a few of the players have them and they seem to really like it and no one has broken one yet which was a concern with all the jumping and climbing.
parkour gym with climbing and jumping in a nerf game, that seems like a lot of fun!
EZE is hands down the best designer in the hobby.
YES! I need to grab a few of these...
Remember swtiching to your pistol is much faster than reloading
Me - awaiting the final piece of my brassed stampede in the mail (the return spring)..... ah... I guess I'm out of date.
How's your Stampede's performance?
@@BradleyPhillipsYT I haven't tested fps yet because of frequent runaway, but I'll know once I put the worker return spring in. I'm expecting around 140fps. I mean it did punch into cardboard point blank. But yeah, the stampede platform is very... bendy? So getting the brass to not torque against itself, creating friction is tricky. Your aeg looks absolutely insane!!
Does the tension lock still keep the spring extended? Would long term use damage the spring like with a talon?
Why didn’t you use your milsig m79 with its 12 darts per second for testing? Thanks
It only shoots full auto reliably on air power and would need to get the tank filled
I love your videos bro keep it up 😊
I can think of something more deadly, my custom rhinofire and i need to know if two of these is cheaper than buying one more nerf 50 round
What is your Rhinofire hitting?
who picks up all of the darts when you're playing at an area or in the woods?
You pick them up yourself usually
Alright, I'll admit it, it is super possible for Nerf guns to be cool.
seeing that the 3d model isnt free, it kinda makes me feel like I need to make a 3d printed copy that is based on a similar design and share the 3d model for free because having to pay for a 3d model is like a crime to me
I strongly disagree with you there, creators should be compensated for their time and labour just like anyone else in the world.
How did you get around Dry fire at the end of the mag?
You don't, it will dry fire. For many blasters this isn't an issue.
Oh ok, I only ask as I just got the Storm and I'm paranoid about Dry firing it. In your experience with the storm, is the odd Dry fire going to damage the blaster I only have one magnet atm and was hoping to use it this weekend at an event.
Need a Diana version
Someone please try this in a Lepus
good rule of thumb for stuff being considered a war crime. Its never a warcrime the first time 😜
I love that this exists, but I don't like that you can't print all the 3D printed parts yourself, otherwise I would buy a kit
woozi
Very interesting, but suuuuch a pain to use.
daaaaaaaam....
Looks good but too many steps!! I just wanna load up and get back to business!
Looks like a pain to load.
Im gonna need to skip this product. Good idea. Not so good execution 😢
It will be interesting to see other people attempt making one. Perhaps one where the front plate comes off to load darts like a real steel drum.
Would like to hear from you in greater detail.
I can. 400 fps with 50 mag cap.
Maybe the Milsig M79?
@@BradleyPhillipsYT yes.
Far too much hassle to load to make it practical.
Not really pratice in a hot battle.
1st
you beat me :(
U got 2nd tho, that's pretty good.
Technically my pinned comment was 1st but good job both of you
