I was taught to use the middle of a feather for mice tails, as they have a thicker base and go thinner to the top. Just like the tail.
We had several feathers and chose one specific to our animal for the perfect fit.

Adore this channel, soooooo goooood!!!!! Disagree on the "jump out of a airplane once" thing. Solo static, climb out on to the wheels hold for jump master thumbs up then let go. Tandem, shuffle to door then pushed. Paratrooper walk forward to the washing machine of the side door. Paratrooper rear ramp sweet bliss.

One of the great things about this channel is that it shows you what some of the the processes and the careers of science actually look like. No actors in costumes and dramatically lit labs, but regular people working together, laughing, and learning while expanding to the body of human knowledge!

Fun/horrifying fact: rat tails can get schlooped while they're alive. It's called degloving. It works as a survival mechanism if they get caught by the tail by a predator, or they get their tail caught somewhere. It's also why you should never lift rats by the tail.

But it's OUR weird corner of the internet! I was so psyched to see that a new dissection video from Emily was in my notifications! You have this perfect way of making something that, from someone else, would be gross and unapproachable, and making it not just fascinating, but so fun! I had not realized just how much I missed these until I heard the grossometer tripping to high.
And this particular video has such a varied and sweet cast, too!

Just wanted to say I introduced my niece to this channel ages ago, and now she's about to start another semester studying for a vet-med degree.
