As a SD resident for 20+ years you nailed it. Nice job. I'd say you missed out on some dinner spots in general, but gives you a good reason to come back. You could also legit do a whole video on just CH project restaurants and probably eat some of the best we have to offer (same place that owns Morning Glory and Ironside)
thanks!!
Great work! Some suggestions: Old Town Mexican Cafe- Old Town (crispy carnitas with corn tortillas made to order). Bull's Smokin' BBQ- Bay Park (Beef rib, Cole slaw with candied almonds). Sandbar- Mission Beach (Juan's Street Taco: crispy pork adovada, roasted pineapple, onions, cilantro, jalapeño crema). Neighborhood- East Village/PetCo Park (Hood Burger- double smash patties, smoked gruyere, blue cheese, bacon onion jam, fries, with a side of the best special sauce you've ever had)
thanks!!
Thank you for the video. I love the description boxes with each dish 😋
thanks! new new new graphics for 2024!
Loving this long form content!
thank you! lots more coming!
Thank you for all of the suggestions. I have a few suggestions for you next time you are in San Diego: The Market Place at Liberty Station there are so many excellent food choices to choose from, but one of our favorites is Cecilias Taqueria fish tacos with the red salsa. Also, Con Pane rustic breads and cafe their rosemary bread is delicious on sandwiches! Rubicon has excellent sandwiches! My favorite is the rich boy on their garlic bread! I love the free little cookie that they give with each of their sandwiches! Fredcel Filipino food is the best! They only take cash and have special hours. We love the pancit and lumpia! Also, another place that has excellent grilled fish tacos is the South Beach Bar & Grill! The Kebab shop has excellent gyro wraps. I love the gyro wrap with pickled onions. They also have excellent garlic yogurt sauce and spicy cilantro sauce. We also like Punjabi Tandoor. They have buffet style choices with homemade naan bread. Another great spot is the Grill House Cafe, Miramar road and Activity road. They have the best hummus with lavash bread. I love their vegetarian wrap. Also, you have to try the best asian restaurants and ramen on Convoy street.
love it! thanks!!
First time viewer, but excellent choices. I'd like to try them all. But Im here to talk about Tortillas de Harina or Flour Tortillas. They're made of 4-5 ingredients: wheat flour, water, vegetable lard/oil and salt, some use baking powder too. So, I grew up in Mexicali, Baja Mexico. My mom made flour tortillas every night. She said the flour (how it's made) is the key ingredient. Flour made in the US is not made the same way as in Mexico.
Costco sells uncooked flour tortillas called FRESCA, they are to die for. Thanks 👍🏽
Loved the video and have to check some of these spots out! Mitch's Seafood and Ed Fernandez Birria I'd recommend also
thanks!!
Great Video! One hidden gem is Lahaina Beach House. It’s known for a place to drink, but they have an awesome carnitas burrito that is our go to every time we’re in SD. And you can’t beat the atmosphere.
Thanks for the info!
The tortillas are so good here because of the water 😂
More so because a real flour tortilla needs to be made with lard and not chemicals and a real corn tortilla is made with natural maize kernerls turned into masa harina, kosher salt and some use a lye process.
These are all amazing spots good guide!
thanks!!
Love this vid! Ty!
So glad!
Thanks for rockin' the Padres cap while you were in SD.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
60 degrees is jacket weather here in San Diego.
-hash house a go go
-harumama
-paru tea bar
-bronx pizza
must tries in SD! love your content :))
These are all good but not MUST tries. Harumama is literally a chain 😂 You recommended a chain 😂
HASH HOUSE IS FIREEE
I live in San Diego and u sbowed me some places i havent tried yet thank u my man. Next x u in San Diego need to try Barrio Dogg. Right down the street from Cuatro Milpas hotdogs with a twist absolute 🔥🔥
oooo thank you!!
@@BrunchBoys no prob btw came across your SD video after watching your New Orleans video me and the wife big fans of Turkey and the Wolf!
San Diego native here 🙋🏽♀️ Def gotta check a few of these places out! Great picks. But alllsssoooooooo, it’s not “cali style burrito” lol it’s just “California burrito”! Glad you enjoyed!
lol thanks!!
Damn, dude... just DUH-AM!!! #Subscribed
thanks!!
Rocky's burgers in PB is a must stop
Some places I recommend, however theyre in riverside county would definitely be Destination smokehouse for some BBQ and Michis Tacos in Lake Elsinore
Thanks for the tips!
I'm a local and you got so many of my favorite places ! You are missing out not hitting up the Asian food on convoy st.. let me know if you need some recs
thanks! hopefully back soon!
Great video, but you should lower the music a tad and turn up the dialog. Also, whenever you split something in two, show what's on the inside.
You should try Sushi Ota. It is so good!!
thank you!! it looks great!
Sushi OTA is the best, albacore sashimi and the sea urchin, the best sashimi by far. Shits on toro.
San Diego surprisingly does American barbecue well for being California! 🍖 And decent New York pizza spots...
love it!
I imagine that to get good flour tortillas in New York, you need to find a place that authentically makes them. There are too many substitutions that are unpleasant and compromise the flavor. For me, authentic means using simple ingredients like flour, lard, salt, and baking powder, and nothing else. Maybe I should consider moving to New York and opening a tortelleria ☺️
please do! lol
That croissant😮❤
so good!
I really enjoy your content. You are really good at explaining the taste and textures of the foods.
You hit a lot of really good places in SD, there are too many places to go to in one video. However Tacos El Gordo and Lucha Libre are choices. El Gordo is skimpy on meat to double tortilla ratio. And Lucha Libre just hasn’t been good for at least 15 years.
Other than that, good spread of cuisines.
Good on you for hitting up Dis Brasas.
yess
Yummmmmmmm thanks
My pleasure 😊
You definitely missed hitting up the best Pizza joint Filippis in PB! Also Cass de Pico in La Mesa
ah man!!
I would add burgers from Rocky's Crown Pub and fried oyster tacos from South Beach Bar & Grille. Always thought Lucha Libre was overrated.
Howdy dudey 😊
Yelp and redit did you dirty. You caught all the trending places with a better alternative that locals prefer. Also, you don’t get burritos at cuatro, you get their bowl of chorizo and a stack of tortillas.
i dont use yelp or reddit. thanks
Try out these places next time:
- Pomegranate (Russian/Georgian)
- Taco Stand (Encinitas)
- Callie
- South Beach (Fish Tacos)
ill add to the list! Thank you!!
include prices please
Chicken Pie Shop
dude doesn't go to the friendly, what a chump
1. Chicken Pie Shop
2. Carnitas Uruapan
3. Michelines Pita House
4. Tip Top Meats (located in
Carlsbad, though)
thanks!!
Tip top is the bomb! Old school diner vibes. Also, everything north of the bay is also San Diego including Carlsbad lol.
This isn’t a great representation of the spots in SD. Travel a little further and choose a little more types of food and restaurants.🤷🏻♂️
Gotta watch again and take notes ! 🤤 - 26:00 lucha libre..... There was a fly on the taco..... 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Won't be going there.
Hell no Lucha libre is trashhhhhh
Nah their Cali burrito is actually fire as hell
They fell off
It’s a fine taco shop, but way overrated.
agreed. first yr it was open on washington it was exceptional
An experienced food vlogger would be prepared for cash only businesses. Even though Tacos El Gordo isn't, many of the best places are. Rookie mistake. Also you have to have cash when you travel for tipping in various scenarios. Again, rookie mistake.
I look up every restaurant I need cash for before I go. it's 2024. maybe 1% don't accept cards. thanks though...
@@BrunchBoysall good bro you did a great job. Really great video. Cheers from cali.
@@nicolina3330 🙏🏼🙏🏼
San Diego sucks ......the food second rate ........every restaurant can`t get people to work .........taco shops are gringo`d out ! .........tacos el gordo ok but way too pricey .........everythings like Mc donalds .....it sucks !!!!
Tacos el gordo used to be more affordable, but then it got trendy. Same with all of them.
