Just after reuniting from over a year of separation due to the pandemic, my fiancée Debbie and I decided to spend 24 hours in Vienna with no idea what the future would look like...and what started as a simple homage to our favorite movie quickly became something more. Put on some headphones and strap in for something a little different than our previous film! This one was very much an experiment, and so the audio quality can vary from scene to scene. The video is fully captioned with English subtitles if you have any need for them. If you missed it, here's our previous film called LOVE IN THE TIME OF CORONA: czcams.com/video/AV3rYlXe0p0/video.html
Thanks for all the support on the videos that have been different than usual, guys! The lovely folks over on Patreon actually got to watch both of these recent short films several months in advance (and see the rough cuts) so if that's interesting to you, check out the Patreon link here: www.patreon.com/user?u=1017531
I'm very excited for what's next; there's a video about Greta Gerwig's Little Women available on the Patreon now that should be out very soon, and beyond that, I'm so happy to be able to collaborate with Debbie on some other projects in the near future. We'll keep you posted! Thanks for being here.

This is kind of like a Terrance Mallick film with all the movement and the wide shots of the background, and I love how the audio is actually live. Very experimental and cool!

i loved what debbie was saying about adulting: part of it is learning to approve things for your self. and being more comfortable in fulfilling that role, rather than always looking to other people to do the approving for you. i'm going to be thinking about that for a while

I loved this. The natural conversations between you two and everything about this video was very enjoyable to watch. I'd say this was a very successful experiment!

that bridge scene was so great. its not often that you get to see real, authentic conversations happening in a film, and there's a certain wholeness to them that scripted stuff doesn't have that I'm really starting to love more and more.

Holy shit you weren’t kidding when you said this was gonna be like The Before Trilogy
I’m honestly fanboying bc of the locations

these dudes are just gonna release a movie every week reminding us all of how lonely we are?? 😭

Jk of course. Lovely film once again. Pairs up really well with the last one because this is more natural and warm (the shots feel more raw?) and the other one was visually colder (polished shots) but more poetic. Neither is necessarily a better or worse technique but just an interesting observation. Also the credits saying “The Coleys” was so sweet y’all 🥺.

From the first shot I knew this would be a gem.

This is simply yet wonderfully shot, and the audio has a transportative (brand new word there for ya) effect. But aside from all that, this film just made me really happy and makes me want to go create stuff, which is really all something needs to do to be magical.

Ima just lump this with the previous part and call this duology my favourite film of the year, although such a title feels kinda shallow and unnecessary. Awesome stuff guys, real vibin even though McDonald's usually ain't one
I love the constant battle between what was and what will be. The idea of reconciliation and settling down constantly lingering, interrupting the joy. Ridiculous how well the first part represents the aching to see each other, and now that you guys are back (and engaged, adorable), the present doesn't seem as important.
Perhaps it's even pressure; the pressure of exposing yourselves to the camera, the pressure of having to have deep conversations, the pressure (and joy?) of being cliche, maybe even the pressure of figuring things out, which infect those 'candid' moments (Of which there were apparently many) a bit.
It's also thought out, the idea of going above the whole city and talking about different countries, the shot choices feeling both natural and yet inherently cinematic (Along with some of what you guys were talking about/doing, but maybe I just don't know real life heh), the way it's edited to emphasize the juxtaposition I was talking about earlier, and eventually to underline how cliche or universal some things are. Using that storytelling advice of using the weather/time of day to match the moods of the scene/progression of ideas. Very lovely, and both of you are really really charming too (But really, this is so clear in every video either of you are in)
I understand that I'm probably looking too far into a cute lil thing yall made (And well, your real lives), and to be fair I'm kinda missing half the point by not having seen the Before trilogy yet (Soon!), but it was awesome guys, great great stuff. Honest, meaningful, and gorgeous.

“Honest, meaningful, and gorgeous” - I could nearly say the same thing about your comment! It’s always such a privilege to have someone really see and appreciate the intentionality in a piece of art you’ve made, and even find new meaning in things you didn’t intend. Thanks for such a perceptive and encouraging analysis. I really appreciated this.

@@houston-coley Awhhh thank you! I'm just returning a fraction, the smallest percentage of what I was gifted. You are a fantastic creator. The melancholia and intelligence with with you've approached every creation is special. Absolutely in the league of folks like HiTop and Loverboy, who feel like they're putting everything forward with this kinetic creative energy which don't lose track of either style nor substance. I don't know alot about the future, but I am confident that this duology will stick with me for a long time. So glad you appreciated my comment. It really does seem that you're proud of this, and with this confidence, I eagerly anticipate more from you guys. Still reeling from these 2 shorts.
