  • Paragliding tutorial about how to make a low save. XC flying often requires that you be able to find and use thermals when you are close to the ground, near landing. To do this there are a few keys. 1) Always keep a landing field on easy glide. 2) Stay super aware of your environment and the signs of lift. 3) Turn flat. 4) Don't panic. 5) Keep turning. 6) Use a bubble to get to another bubble. 7) Believe and don't give up! It's not over till the glider is in the bag!
This video is filmed in Colima Mexico, where the birds and smoke help mark climbs and keep you in the sky! We're doing 3 XC Clinics in Colima January 2024! Come learn to fly cross country with us!

Pro tip keep a few birds in your harness pocket for deployment if you're low and not seeing any native birds.

Good video, it showed up on my page today after my third bomb out in a row here in Boulder, Co.
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that gets frustrated. You make some very good points that I will have to remind myself in the future.
Love the videos, keep it up bro.

Love your posts friend. The only launch I have within a couple hours from me is only 200 feet tall, so low saves are the only possibility of even doing an xc, so this is great info!

@@niconico3907 Nope, I bought one but I coudln't get any of my paramotor friends interested in using it, so I sold it. All of my pioneered sites are 220ft or lower.

Could you give an old man a number and say okay if you're below 500 ft you are looking to land within a mile at the most? If you hit the 11:00 to 1 gold standard gliding 5500 feet. I'm considering some kind of a telescope that I can hold in my mouth and look through with one eye and survey my landing area for obstacles like post or farm equipment that's overgrown with Grass. Is there some way to try and make your low save over a flat place?
