  • In this episode, we take a GTO from totally stock to totally stuck, as we replace every bushing, every shock, and every spring on my friend James' 2006 Brazen Orange GTO. We'll be installing a Pedders Extreme coilover kit and several bushings from Whiteline Performance. Enjoy!

You have probably done it by now, but when you do those bushes, dont lube the outside of the bush as it will accelerate its wear. Only lube the inside and many urethane bushes now have a teflon coating that dont require grease. Too much grease catches dust and turns into grinding paste and wears the bush. If there is rust, best to clean and oil it.

Are there any aftermarket parts to make my GTO feel more like a Crown Vic in terms of dampening? I recently rode in a Crown Vic and it feels like your floating on a mattress, it absorbs ever single bump insanely well. My GTO still has the original stock setup and 15 years later its all worn out and I can feel every nasty bump in the road, even the minor bumps. I drove the Crown Vic down the same street and I couldn't feel any bumps at all. I'm kinda over cars with stiff suspension, I dont do any kind of racing or extreme cornering in my GTO so I dont see why I would need it to be so stiff. Also I read that Poly bushing her and there accumulate to a overall stiffer ride, any truth to that? Trying to go the opposite of a stiff ride when I restore my suspension.

7:59 tighten strut bushing nut to 58ft/lbs
9:44 tighten strut tower nut to 41ft/lbs
Is this the fact that a nut comes with the coilovers (I have Megans/BCs I’m currently installing) on top (right under where the adjuster knob goes in?) and then we have another nut that came on the OEM strut thread?
So if I understand correctly the nut over the strut mount bushing/bearing tq to 58ft/lbs, put the coil over into the car, then when done torque the top nut on top of the retainer plate (over the already torqued coil over nut) to 41ft/lbs?
