    Hello, J.R.;
    To prevent flames from burning from the joint put the bottom inside the top.
    That puts the outside of the joint at the bottom of the stove instead of at the top.
    Also, I always put small notches in the bottom of the inner wall.
    Just 2 or 3 angled cuts, about 1/8 of an inch & cut at about a 45 degree angle.
    Then bend the uncut part back to make a little triangle-shaped (/\) notch.
    Just a helpful tip or 2.
    Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

    I like to make hobo stove in a Nivea cream can (or any can with a lid). Keep a book of matches in it, close the lid and tape it. I found that lighting up a hobo stove with matches is a lot easier than using a lighter.

    I use old prescription bottles to store fire starter by cutting in half new or used Q tips and stuff them in the bottle with Vaseline. The same bottles are also good to store pool chlorine in for hundreds of gallons of water purification. They also make good strike anywhere match water proof cases. If not your self I'm sure you have relatives that through hundreds of these bottles out a year. Reusable many times.

    Take your buddy burner and put a couple of holes like for a bails on pots, get some coat hangers and make an attachment that goes into the holes and then make it into a handle which can be attached to a stick and you now have a torch that will swivel as you walk. Also when in cubs we took a large coffee can and put some holes around the bottom with a church key and cut a small hole to feed sticks when wanted or for air flow when using the buddy burner and you have what they called a hobo stove can cook eggs and bacon on top, it works really well. Like the idea's for cheap easy to make cheats.

    Hey bud, I'm in East Texas and noticed in your comments you are also in Texas. Do you ever do any weekend outdoor camping/survival technique get togethers? Thought it would be cool to hang out, learn from others, share stories, etc? Really appreciate all your videos and the hobo candle was genius, building one of these tomorrow to put in my 4 Patriots small stove like you one you showed, that thing is great, bought 4 of them for family members!

    If you use an 8 oz tomato sauce or condensed soup can for the bottom of the alcohol burner you can easily slip the upper part of the burner over it without any crimping.
    Instead of the inner sleeve cut the metal about 3/4" higher than the can roll it up and insert it in the large hole and let it expand. You can set a pot on it. Remove it to pack smaller.

    Budget minded. Reuse repurpose stuff. Not a drinker but discovered yhe plastic liner in a wine box dispenser can be reused. The plastic valve can be pulled out with a qentle pull slipgrip pliers. Clean the plastic bladder with vinegar. Use for emergency water collector. Works great. Or fill with water and freeze and use as freezer pack in a cooler.

    the alcohol pop can stoves i made i eliminated the gap issue on sides by making up enough cans to make 10 stoves then when assembling i mixed up some jb weld and put on the cans before sliding together then when the jb weld sets up hard its completely sealed and no leaks and gives a sturdy side panel all around

    Use triple antibiotic ointment on cotton balls instead of petroleum jelly. It's made from petroleum jelly, so it burns just as well and it lends some first aid applications to your fire kit.

    My mom taught the “Tuna Can Heater” to my older sister in Girl Scouts IN THE EARLY 1960s. Taught it to us boys when we were in Cub Scouts a few years later.
    Oh, my hint.
    Get one of the thingies used to keep a coffee mug warm and it will melt the wax a lot safer than a stove or open flame. And after you think you have filled the Tuna Can with wax and the wax has hardened put the Tuna Can on the heater to make sure it is full.
