If you're trying to make a glass baren, why aren't you using the glass side? It looks like you're rubbing with the felt side.

Where do you find self adhesive felt circles with a firm backing like that? What are they called/ sold for? Thanks!

Yep, it is the glass topper for a candle I got at the grocery store.
