- Meet my new love, Bennie! He's a chocolate miniature poodle that I adopted in July at 8 weeks old and here our the first 6 weeks of us together! Having a new puppy has definitely been a big challenge. I didn't go that in depth with puppy life, things that worked, things that didn't, things I wish I did, or the puppy blues (which are thankfully went away around 5-6 weeks) but I'm thinking of making a video on that soon and doing an update now that we've had him longer and he's older. I feel exactly the same, itâs quite overwhelming having a puppy, potty training, leash pulling, put everything in his mouth. But it gets better, puppy training does help a lot. My Ollie is 10 months old now, itâs the teenage phase, so different issues come up, like barking at noises, ignore you when call đwe are working on it. Good Luck!
The life of being a mini poodle puppy parent! You've got it exactly. Bennie is almost 10 months and we're facing some of the same challenges with him. He's very quick to learn tricks and good at problem solving/puzzles, but the poodle energy is still very much present especially around seeing people and trying to provoke me into play through biting. I have noticed lately he's getting better at bathes and grooming as well as walking on a lead. Wishing you luck and patience! I'm sure you're doing your best and Ollie is growing up to be a great dog!

Thank you! He's definitely cute to make getting through the puppy days easier. đ I love him so much now and I'm excited to do more things with him as he gets older! I think when it's time you'll know. There are so many times I tried researching getting a dog and got too overwhelmed and anxious, but when I decided to get Bennie, I knew it was time.

I'm a big cat person but I do have to admit that he's very cute âș
He's cute to make up for all the frustrations of having a puppy đ© lol but i'm already missing the days when he was so tiny! Thank you for watching the new vlog!
I appreciate your honesty. How are things now?
Bennie is almost 10 months now and I think overall he is more mature and obedient, but he's still very much a puppy. He's super playful and energetic and definitely has FOMO so I've been trying to work on solutions to manage his energy, like taking him on a 20 minute walk during lunch so he will quietly rest or play by himself during the afternoon while I work. He doesn't bite other people but he still does try to bite me sometimes to provoke me into playing, which I think is the biggest frustration right now. Otherwise, he's really quick to learn, he's getting better at grooming/bathes/nail trims which we do ourselves, and he's getting better at walking on a lead.

How's he doing now? Do you feel less frustrated now that he's a bit older
He's doing well! There are still behavioral things we need to continue working on but he is really quick to learn commands and very play motivated but he also gets bored of things quickly. I also didn't realize how common it is for miniature poodles to be picky eaters so that's something we've been struggling with these past couple months. Otherwise he's grown a lot and I think overall I'm feeling a lot better with him!
