On Daniel Kramer's $14 preset pack, the Prime/Core sounds amazing...truly. It really showed me you have to know what you're doing with Headrush stuff. You cant just slap presets together and think it will excel. Buy Daniel's presets pack, and Prime/Core sounds as good as anything. 💯

This is a great product. I own the MX5 and I am using it a lot more than my Helix Floor or my Hotone Ampero. I believe someday, someone will put vocal modelling to make me sound like someone or some genre or something like that.

Fully agree with Dan statement that the product main value prop and differentiation lies on bringing together a guitar _plus_ a vocal rig ( I'm also long time user of tc-h which is great and versatile, but it is one more box to connect, turn on and manage , together with a guitar pedalboard ). Love the concept of 2-in-1 that HR is proposing in a relatively compact form factor

I revisited this video 3 months after it's release intentionally...Because I wanted to answer "yes" to the question in the title, WITH a qualifier...which is "for the money."
Since the release of the Core, we've seen Fender's Tone Master make all the youtubers attempt to influence us that it's the best thing since guitar pickups. We've seen the HX One simply baffle everyone, and now Kemper decided to release a tiny version of about 1/10 of their stage modeller...as in 1/10 of the functions. When Headrush slashed the price of the Core, it made it 1/2 the price of the Tonemaster....NOBODY can tell me that the Tonemaster can 2 twice what the Core can do. For $100 less, you can get 4 locked effects, 2 on either side of a locked position amp/cab, from Kemper....but don't worry, they'll provide updates, at a small fee, it seems. The HX One....makes sense for somebody that wants to spend $300 for one effect...buthave the choice of what that effect is going to be. I mean, people pay $500 for a reverb pedal...why not spend $200 less and get 25 reverb pedals, and delays, and modulation, OD, Fuzz.....I digress.
What reeeeeaaaaly bugs me. Prime was released, followed by Core. "Influencers," promptly released videos touting the devices..."best modeller on the market," "Not a pedalboard, it's a MACHINE," "Perfect compact rig," "This thing is Insane!" My goodness, you'd have thought that all of these influencers found their end all solution to their modeling needs....then.....CRICKETS!
I can only assume that Headrush doesn't pay the influencers as well as Line 6, Fender, et al...I ditched my Helix Floor for the Headrush Core, and I don't regret it for a second. I traded the Floor in at GC, along with my Voicelive Play Acoustic, and got the Core, PLUS a D'angelico guitar in exchange.
I wish influencers were more honest with their opinions....first and foremost, the opinion on what sounds "better." I mean...with drums, Bass, maybe another guitar or keyboard, and vocals, will anyone listening to a guitarist live be able to discern the tiny differences between a QC, Helix, Core, Tonemaster, or a real amp with pedals? More importantly, will any of them even care?
The Core is the best available, right now....for the money.

We aren’t “influencers” - we just use what we use. Nothing in the new splooge of products has been enough to sell my HX Stomp. Definitely a bunch of great new features which ultimately benefits us as end users but it would take something DRAMATIC to pull me out of the Helix ecosystem. And ZERO companies are paying us for our opinions. One can dream though 🤣

    Nice topic and video. Thanks.
I agree that Helix, Quad Cortex and others should also release something completely new. The most popular powerful processors are from 5-6 years ago. Hope that Headrush will motivate other producers too.

Interesting video. I used my Original Headrush from middle 2018 until the Prime came out. I thought the original model was ground breaking but sadly this came out after the Helix, perhaps before my have boosted Headrush a lot more. I wasn't a fan of the Prime at launch and now the prime has had a few improvements along the way which has ironed out a few glitch's but it's still got a lot better. I own a Boss GT 1000 and also Fender Tone Master Pro. The Boss for me had most of the Boss pedals I bought in the 80's. As for the Tone Master Pro (I never paid full price) is pretty good and is great for Cleans but it's still in it's infancy. Cost of digital products has become a factor now and the latest Ed Sheeran products show that however the bigger version of the looper does look pretty good. Thanks for sharing this with us. All my best wishes 🎶🎶🎶🎶👍👍😎😎

I have to admit I was surprised they have the revalver line as stock amps. It kinda shows how the more things change the more they stay the same (or how little modeling has come over the years). I personally liked revalver but it seems strange from a marketing standpoint.

I had the prime for a while, and I’ll say that the vocals are equal in quality to the guitar amps. They’re good, not great. You can get a better vocal in the QC in a similar fashion to getting a better amp sound in the QC…more depth…more dynamic range…etc.

I had the prime last month. I have an AXE FX3. These units are not even comparable. The built in presets on the HR, just delete them, garbage. Honestly the AXE has been the only modeler where the out of box presets are actually not that bad. You can get much better sound from their cloud rigs, but it's still nowhere near the Fractal. I tried the pedal board as well back when it came out before i had my Fractal. It is featured packed, the looper is nice, the gui of course is great, but lack of a PC interface is a downer, but the killer for me is that it just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as my fractal on clean or dirty sounds. It feels solid though, but apparently inside it's a bit of a joke. They have some firmware issues and HR is famous for not keeping up with fixes too. But it has got TONS of potential, but will HR support it? In the past they have not. My father now has the unit so I'll get to keep using as it matures, but right now it seems like an entry level point into modeling. Its pretty though. I'm really hoping HR sticks with it.

could someone please explain what an "IR" is??

    • @CoverBandConfidential
      @CoverBandConfidential  Před měsícem

IR= Impulse response. An impulse response is a sonic snapshot of an amplifier setup. Think of it as a polaroid picture capturing the exact sound of your amp in that second, including the microphone placement, speaker sound, pedals, rack-mounted gear and room sound. It’s the most accurate recreation of a particular guitar sound across the entire 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range.
If you’ve found your perfect sound, you can use an IR to take that sonic snapshot and recall it later on as the IR loader mimics it.

What is the quality of the models?
"Bang for buck" is a big red flag. Zoom has bang for buck, but it's all half-assed.
I would rather have 12 excellent amp models, than 120 that all, kinda, suck.
I suspect the Boss GT-1000 Core, has superior tone quality in it's models.
