Shield Crush Raider - build guide [league start viable]

- This is my league starter for the Path of Exile 3.24 Necropolis league.
The video showcases the build before going into a discussion of the theory behind the skill and ascendancy as well as some of the intricate synergies of the build.
Overall the build surprised me with its speed and resillience. Whenever I hit a wall it was always possible to adjust the build and keep moving forward. There's still a lot of room to improve, im by no means done, but I think it's worth showcasing as is.

@@laurentiu-stefandan3271 Dont get your hopes too high - melee is in a terrible spot and has been so for ages, so its hard to come up with something thats both interesting and functionable.
Hey man this build is awesome i love how you broke down the video explaining what you wanted and how you were going to get it. Best build ive ever played feels super tanky and has great DPS!

...but I do need to cut down on the "uh's" and "ehm's" - I'll try and do better next time.
I admire the effort it takes to remember everything in one take and also keeping your campaign/early act gear in stash to show that you used that to level and farm currency. A tip, when you're exporting the video in whatever video editing software you use, it should have a CZcams video setting preset. Check that so that it adjusts the audio levels for youtube's loudness normalization, otherwise your video comes out sounding very soft. Or you can do it manually in the audio section, many guides for it it takes 10 seconds.
Other than that, good video, i was testing out some shield crush Scion things and wanted some extra inspiration

Im not really a PoB warrior, Ive just played for PoE long i make a rough draft, often just with poeplanner, and then adjust along the way, so I dont have any PoBs lying around, but I could go make some for a better guide. There's some fairly clear-cut stages to the build so it could make sense giving insight to those.
@@ilnino-gaming Yeah it takes a while to get used to editing.
Learning pob makes making builds far far easier, it's not difficult at all the tool makes everything pretty self explanatory, good luck though hope to see some great stuff. Try to invest more time into thumbnails and video titles they help alot
@@MasterT_ Oh I'm aware - been playing since closed beta and always some sort of melee, meaning I've got a pretty good feel of a build just by looking at it, which is why I don't use PoB that much. Its an amazing tool, but it can also lead you astray as numbers in there aren't everything.
I might make a new video in the coming week, just to get some more editing feel. Will leave a note here, if I find the time to do so.

Very cool build Ive been a melee enjoyee and usually league start Blade Flurry Generals Cry Berserker but they nerfed it indirectly with the call to arms changes. This may be my new league start!
Thanks man :D Try giving it a whirl some time, its surprisingly easy to get off the ground, because Raider being Raider, and then you can adjust it however you feel.
Ive begun delving, currently at depth 400+ and my HP bar hardly ever moves unless I stand on degens.
Hi, when can we swap to shield charge while leveling and what gems to use early, it would have been nice to have some notes for leveling or something like that.

Im not entirely sure tbh. I cleared the campaign with Frostblades + 2h and only swapped to Shield Crush at lvl 67. Now im testing a fresh run with Shield Crush from lvl 2 and onward, but it feels a lot slower. So I cant give a specific breakpoint for switching, aside from level 46 which is the requirement for Emperor's Vigilance.
@@ilnino-gaming alright. thank you for replying. 1 other thing is no one is trading a rapier with the any phys damage convert to cold let alone all the affixes and im worried what to do about the rapier becuase im a new the player and this is my first league. I already completed my atlas with hexblast but you build attracted me
@@afzalshah64 For starters you can use a The Princess (trash unique), in some setups it might even be better than my rapier.
The rapier im using is a hybrid between two influences, which makes it impossible to drop, meaning you need to craft it. Good news is, its really simple:
Get two rapiers from trade + 1 Orb of Awakening:
rapier 1= convert phys to cold (must be the only influenced mod)
rapier 2 = phys as extra cold (must be the only influenced mod)
Then fuse the two rapiers together with the awakeners orb, and you get something like my rapier.
*If you're uncertain about how to use an awakeners orb, then search for video guides on it. Its simple, but its always nice to know whats going on.

@@afzalshah64 do you have everything else for the build ready? Ralakesh, Frenzy Gloves, Replica Badge of the Brotherhood? Because you dont NEED the rapier early on.
@ilnino-gaming Hello, interesting build. There is a question, you do not convert physical damage to cold 100%, don't you lose damage because of this?
Only a fraction, I would of course prefer to get 99% conversion, but I settled for 98 (im not a fanatical a min-maxer)
Most of my scaling is focused on physical dmg and generic dmg, which applies everything. The only scaling that does not apply to the remaining 2% phys dmg is:
48% increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
12% increased Cold Damage
19% more Cold dmg (Hatred)
+ Awakened Ele Dmg with Attacks (40% more and 10% increased dmg)
It is of course something Im missing out on, but its a fair price to get the improved clear from explosions via Haemophilia.
For a bossing setup or one without explosions, you would of course go 100% conversion and use some better gloves (Hands of the High Templar, Necropolis/Warlord influenced Frenzy gloves or a pair of synthesized gloves with +1 frenzy as implicit.)
Looks very similar to what I used to play, but usually with slayer instead. I only have 2 real questions that I have yet to answer myself: 1) What would be big upgrades for pushing even more damage. 2) How to solve dots and recovery? I wish we had old amounts of life on hit.
1) dropping Haemophilia and getting a rare set of +1 frenzy gloves with cold conversion. This allows for a better Watchers Eye with Cold Pen or something else instead of gettting cold conversion (im currently testing this setup). You can also ignore curse effect reduction from one jewel and replace with a pure dmg setup. Regarding rings, then getting 35-45% inc elemental dmg with attacks, will be huge as well. You can also get 4-5% cold pen with eldritch implicits on the helmet... theres probabaly more, these just came to mind.
2) Chaos DoTs are solved with chaos res being (nearly) capped (you can become poison or bleed immune through the eva/arm mastery). Phys DoTs are mitigated with 8-10x endurance charges. Soul of Lunaris gives 8% ele dmg reduction if hit recently, this helps against ele DoTs. Also, being ailment immune makes ignites irrelevant
+ 10% instant leech from the leech mastery lets you tank through waves of dmg (see t17 Sanctuary boss fight where I just tank the waves).
@@ilnino-gaming How about something like Sublime Vision with hatred as the build already basically runs a single aura.
@@IIIReDEyeDIII Its a stretch and I think itll be too much. Besides the passives points, which currently are stretched extremely thin (I needed lvl 98 to get the masteries i wanted) you'd also need some inc aura effect to really profit from the more aura effect of supreme ego. The cost of pathing and allocating likely eats the value gained from the keystone. Not saying it would be impossible, but it would warp the build alot.
@@ilnino-gaming Yeah, I guess you're right here. What about the shield alternatives or switching the resistance/life cluster?
@@IIIReDEyeDIII Theres no alternatives for shield even a perfect rolled all t1 champion kite shield wont hit 75% of the dmg from Emperor's Vigilance. for reference, using Aegis Aurora almost halves the dmg. Maybe a Precise Technique build can be made with a GG rolled rare shield with 3k defenses.
Just messed around with some setups. Tried Supreme Ego and massive Thread of Hope, but lost out on both survival and dmg. Did find some extra dmg by moving one large cluster setup, freeing up some points. It got me to +30m dps vs pinnacle bosses and +92k eHP, counting flasks, totems and mark.
looks great. biggest concern is replica brotherhood. Imagine there is no replacement if expensive/rare
not really no. I kept banging my head against t17s (before the nerf) with Replica Dragonfangs Flight or rare amulets. I managed to clear a few, but it was miserable, even with Nico and Huck buffing me. Then I got replica badge and havent failed a t17 since... that's how good it is.

And Raider just makes life so much easier - I really don't get why so few ppl use it.

I dont use PoB that much tbh, just using it to check some numbers, im more about getting the right feel of a build by playing it. That's why the video is a bit "loose" and more about concepts and interactions.
@@ilnino-gaming lol, you're right and I'm following your build because I liked it a lot, but it's complicated when you don't have much idea of the steps the build went through until it got to that point.

I ended up getting the STR and INT from the helm, but had to put on a high STR/INT belt to equip it then I was fine! thank you.
Glad you figured it out. Solving Str, Int and Acc can be a bit of a pain.

Yes, its super easy. Gonna show it in a video soon.
The cost is an Awakener's Orb and two "trash" rares. Find a Shaper influenced rapier with t1 phys as extra cold (and only that one influenced modifier). Then you find another rapier with Crusader influence and the 2phys converted to cold" mod (and only that influenced modifier. Then you smash them together with the Awakeners orb, fusing the two influenced mods onto the same rapier -> bench craft something = done.

But to rephrase: its a super easy craft and more or less guaranteed a decent result.
1) get an Awakener's Orb
2) Get a Shapper influenced rapier with t1 "phys as extra cold" and only that one influenced modifier.
3) get a Crusader influenced rapier with "phys converted to cold" and only that influenced mod.
4) Smash them together with the orb -> if room becncraft something = done
*5) If you have currency to burn, then you can annul the rapier down to 3 affixes and multimod like I did.
alternatively use a The Princess for "30% phys as extra cold"...
with what skill did you level before making the switch?\
Frost Blades using 2handers until 67 when i got Bringer of Rain and switched to Shield Crush. That was on league start. This weekend Ive tried leveling again with Shield Crush all the way. It didnt feel that good at first, but around lvl 40-45 the area got large enough to feel good, and from there it was a breeze.
If you have the time it will be nice a progression till act 5. I'm trying different raider starter builds for next league. I like melee and how fast raider is. I'm bored of only champion melee

I'd say that depends on the pilot. Im too fond of pushing limits to test it in HC myself, and you're far from immortal, like armour+regen based Juggs, but the build can take a lot of heat.
