I think the H pipe sounds better on older vehicles
Agreed. The h just has the deep rumble tone you expect to hear on an older car
Agree. There is a whistle to the full X pipe that doesn't sound right to the type of vehicle you looking at. Open def sounds mean. I'd go with open H
The H-Pipe sounds good 👍
Thanks im digging it
Ohh...That H Pipe sounds GOOD!
im happy with the h
That h pipe sounds so much better for flowmasters I absolutely hate how flowmasters sound usually but this ain't too bad
anymore if i have dual exhaust its getting an h pipe. The h seems to make every thing sound better to me
@@EfurdGarage throw a double H pipe on I'd love to hear how that would sound
@@chrishansen7004 you know i have read about those and it seems there maybe some aftermarket kits out there. I may have to do it on something ones of these days, if i can get another cheap v8 truck ( alot more room to work on exhaust) i will have to do it
Thanks for the video! Currently trying to decide whether I should do an X pipe or an H pipe in my 68 pickup small block. I think I’ve decided 😂 H pipe all day
H pipe i feel is a really good setup. i have done several x, and from now on i think im sticking to h not just for the sound but fitment and ease of install as well
Back in 1987 or 88 I was 17.. a older guy had a 77 Chevy truck long bed with a 350 and what they called s 3/4 cam back then ... it sounded like the one with the H pipe.
The old 3/4 cam lol Which if memory recalls was a little larger then rv, (it could have larger then an rv cam in this engine i have never had it apart to check,)
Good vid man! After watching several comparisons over the years I've always felt like an X pipe makes you sound like you are turning more RPM than you really are. That aside I prefer the thicker deeper sound of the H. I do think the X sounds more appropriate for more modern vehicles though. I've thought about putting an X on my TA because it sounds like a 60's or70's engine with the Qjet, the glasspacks and the 4000-4500 RPM peak.
Thanks. Yea i can see that x really does sound more modern. although i have heard modern trucks that have the h sound. I have done several x over the years. this is the first h and i think thats the way im going to go from now on. i like the sound better plus i feel its way easier to fit the h
That’s you so much the was a very helpful video
your welcome, thanks for watching
I had an h pipe then swapped to x just to hear the sound differences. I plan on going back to an h. Also I like the full exhaust sound clips better on each setup.
Yea i am not a fan of not having mufflers myself. H pipe just has a good deep tone
H pipe gives you that old classic hot rod sound, X pipe gives you that smoother modern muscle car sound.
I agree the h pipe is that deeper old school sound,
Great video. Now to put an X pipe on my 6.8.
Thanks. glad it was useful
I think the H pipe sounds better. But I like em both
yea i like the h better, but also its way easier to fit an h then an x
The louder the better, open h pipe sounds wicked😂
I had never heard open h pipe before so i figured why not then since i was building it 😆
I seem to be the only in favor of the x pipe.
There was one other i believe on the comments. I ran the x pipe myself for a long time. I use to love the sound. Now i prefer h.
H pipe all the way! More of a deeper muscle car sound
i agree
I currently have an h pipe on my 72 mustang but considering the x pipe..did u get tired of the x pipe? I know the h sounds throatier and more classic muscle sound. the x sounds like higher pitch?
I did get tiered of the x pipe. Also wanted a little more low end torque that the h provides over the x. Yea h pipe is deeper and more classic where the x pipe is more exotic sounding if you will higher pitch with more rasp.
@@EfurdGarage I do like the sound of an x but I wonder if I will get annoyed of it? Like ok it’s annoying/teenagish?
@@jesco6830 exhaust is different for everyone. Some older people still like the x. It didnt get annoying to me i just wanted that deeper tone. Also fitment was alot easier with an h over the x at least to me
where did you get your h pipe from by any chance? i'm trying to find one for my sierra with aa 350
i buy the summit racing universal h pipe kits and build them
X pipe for performance
That thing sure does sit high!
Well once i get some money for this one it wont set that high for long lol. I want to get the the wheels about and inch to 2 from the well. It really sets way to high in the rear even with a 2" drop shackle
h pipe all day sounds way better.
I think so too
I think the full h pipe sounds the best 👍👍👍👊🏼,p.s delete the porn adds below buddy
h does give it a great sound
H sounds more growling tiger 🐅
Thats a good way to describe it
Ill take H over the raspy high rpm needing X pipe sound and power delivery any day!!!.....1:31 for X pipe closed......2:50 for H pipe closed
h pipe does sound good. i enjoy listening to that h pipe all day on my way to and from work lol
H pipe sounds better
i agree i did leave it on there after all lol
H pipe all day..... where did you put it closer to front or back
Both h and x where just behind the transmission
H wins
always
why yall want duals, go long tube headers to a 2.5 into a y-pipe and run it out the back with a high flow muffler. Gives a sweet idle sound and gives a nice roar when in the gas.
Why would you want a y pipe? Has long tubes and high flow mufflers. Has a good idle and great tone.
Great comparison!
Thanks!
