Have you heard "Soaked"? BENEE's pop jewel came screaming across the sky last year, bringing the New Zealand native's name to a lot more people with its stealth hooks and casual grooves. Including Republic Records. The major label grabbed up the newcomer with hopes of sharing her music with the world, and collected six cool tracks on one cool EP, 'Fire On Marzz."" We dig BENEE, too, and had her in for an acoustic taked of ""Glitter"" and ""Want Me Back."" The singer says the first song is about a night in an Auckland gay club when a rando dude dumped a bottle of glitter on her head. Give a listen to the second and see if you can figure out its meaning yourself.

I find Benee is imitative of nobody. It’s so authentically her own style. Her acoustic version Want You Back, so illustrates her wide vocal range. I have not been so impressed by a young singer/songwriter in ages.

So this soul-outpouring performance gave me (shoulder-based) chills, but in the last 40 seconds of Benee's gem of a heartfelt song, they moved to my back; which usually only classic rock does in my listening lifetime. It's like my favorite pop ballads, but more articulated and dynamically-expressive.
