    I’m actually BLOWN AWAY by the 4k120 and low light image quality 🤯 wow.

    Loved the magnetic mounting idea of GO 3, so glad to see Ace Pro has it too! Makes it much easier to mount

    Nice! If the Ace Pro was available when I bought my GoPro 10 (before the 11 was released) I probably would have bought the Ace Pro instead. I love my GoPro and it's been an amazing tool for my channel, but I love the higher quality lends (particularly in darker situations) that you showed on the Ace Pro. Much of my recording is in less ideal lighting conditions so the Ace Pro may be a good upgrade for me.

    Amazing to finally see a flip screen on the action camera, tired of constantly bending down into awkward positions to find the best angle or using a phone to connect.

    Thanks for the video! I’m using a GoPro hero 10 on my runs and on trail runs it’s pretty bad. The quality and stability go out the window while running through forest trails. You have convinced me to get this 😊

    Great review Jeff, thanks for this. Wow what a HUGE difference with the stabilization in low light, always been an issue when darkness falls. Same for the grainy noise too, what a difference. My GoPro is older, I'm due for an upgrade soon so I'll have to weigh my options! I don't think you mentioned battery life vs GoPro, any comparison there or not enough to worry about?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I’ve yet to really test the battery in different conditions, so I’m unfortunately not able to really give my opinion on that. The original GoPro battery was so bad in the cold, but the the new Enduro batteries are so much better. I suspect that using the AI features in the Ace Pro, including PureVideo mode when filming at night, will drain the battery faster than on normal video mode.

    Ace Pros large sensor does have excellent quality in low light.

  • @BackwardsKnees
    @BackwardsKnees Před 9 měsíci +1

    that lowlight is pretty impressive, the rest seems good enough vs gopro although seems slightly worse in some areas in daylight but that could just be youtube compression/bitrate things.
    Biggest thing I could see being an issue is the magnetic mounts... that's always going to be a risk. Magnets struggle in tough conditions, temperatures and even in the best conditions can sometimes just seem to not work if things don't sit right.... with a gopro I know that big bolt screw isn't going anywhere which means a lot when mounting it somewhere like a helmet, car, bike, etc.

    • @philbattley8776
      @philbattley8776 Před 9 měsíci +1

      It clips in, apparently. The magnets just help guide it into place. You need to squeeze the mount to release it.

    This looks awesome, I am now considering this. I would like to shoot more in lower light than my GoPro can do, thanks for this video. I’ll look at this for my 2024 projects.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 8 měsíci

      Wes I think you’d enjoy this for filming at night. But you might find the lack of 10-bit Log recording annoying for during the day, so may still prefer your GoPro for that.

    Looks ok but im not sure why it exists. In daylight the GoPro looks better and almost certainly has better stabilization and far more expandability options. At night from what I've seen in videos the Osmo 4 looks better. The flip up screen could be fun but it could also be a pain Vs the front screens on the GoPro and Osmo which are just neater solutions. And finally If you don't need it to be too rugged then the pocket 3 trumps them all. So it looks decent but I'm not sure what it offers in the already quite well represented market. Obvs all just opinions and I've not physically used them all so take my comments with a pinch of salt so to speak

      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +1

    Hey Jeff, thanks for this very succinct and to the point review. What about day light performance? Do you think there's any action camera who is better out there for a trail runner in terms of image quality, portability and stabilization? Doing some videos while running. Thanks a lot.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +1

      In my experience, the Ace Pro and GoPro Hero 12 perform quite similarly in daylight. The GoPro has 10bit Slog which I prefer for Color grading, but that’s useless for the average person.

  • @theVisualStoryTelling
    @theVisualStoryTelling Před 9 měsíci +1

    Great presentation Jeff. Been a GoPro user and a runner my self I decided after you recent video that it will be idea to switch to InstaGo 3 due to uts versatility and size. How would you compare those two cameras by Insta in terms of running??

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +1

      They’re very different cameras - the Go 3 is all about size but leaves a little to be desired in terms of quality, while the Ace Pro is all about quality and low light performance.

    • @theVisualStoryTelling
      @theVisualStoryTelling Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@JeffPelletier thank you for the insight. How do you mount though such a camera so it will be stable in a run?

  • @benjith82
    @benjith82 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Many nice features. BUT, I am not a real fan of the flipscreen as it makes the cam even bigger. Maybe ACE pro 2 has a screen up front as well in addition to the flipscreen - that would be sweet. But that is not the major downside for me. The major downside is the lense cover which is not changeable. That makes it not an action cam for me anymore. I am a runner. But in the German alps as I run downhill quickly there is always a chance to fall and with that the camera as well. And if that cover is broken, well there goes your nice camera...
    Additionally, the Action 4, which I own, is not that far behind in its video quality - even in low light. And the Action 4 is 40 grams lighter - which as an ultrarunner is so valuable.

  • @irunovermountains
    @irunovermountains Před 9 měsíci

    This looks a great option - Thanks Jeff. Insta360 knocks it out of the park again. Have you tested it in a super low light setting, like walking in the mountains at night? If so, how does it compare to the GoPro?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Nothing darker than what’s shown in the tests. The GoPro is useless in totally dark conditions though, so I’ll probably try to compare it instead to my iPhone 13 Pro.

  • @kirutrailic8227
    @kirutrailic8227 Před 9 měsíci

    Did you try using mobile phone with some holder (for example Quad Lock) instead of Insta360? Insta360 has definitely better compatibility with different types of holders but mobile phones usually have better cameras... And for running it could be good option too and lighter (you have all in one device), isn't it? Only stabilitization could be worse probably...

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci

      The biggest drawbacks to using a phone would be not having removable storage and batteries. I know I don’t have enough space on mine to record anywhere near what I regularly film on an action camera. You’d also have to worry about durability, and the replacement cost of a phone (assuming you already own one) is much higher than a comparable action camera. But I do use my iPhone for certain shots in my films, when the time is right!

    In all fairness, the Ace Pro will weigh even more than the GoPro since the Ace Pro requires a separate mount to be attached. The GoPro has the mounts built in. Flip fingers and 1/4” screw.

    • @JeffPelletier

    why don't people test the camera 60 fps ?.. 24 or 25 or 30 fps look choppy when watching on big screen tv whenever panning left or right or move too fast. doesn't have enough frame to smooth the image

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 8 měsíci

      I personally prefer the look of 24 fps, as many creators likely do. Demonstrating 60 fps on CZcams would require that I edit and upload in 60 fps as well, but that frame rate always feels too much like a video game to me.

  • @pickinnick100

    1/1.3" and 1/1.9" are not sensor sizes.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Před 9 měsíci +2

      It's true! Just like how a 1" sensor doesn't actually measure 1" in any direction. It would have been more accurate to have described the Ace Pro and GoPro as having 1/1.3" and 1/1.9" *type* sensors, respectively. But the specs still work for relative comparisons.
