  • This was the wooden hexagonal archway that I built for my wedding in August 2019.

    I am making one of these for my wedding too in November of this year and of all the videos I have seen on making a DIY Hexagon archway this is by far the easiest method! I feel dumb now cause I didn't think of doing it this way lol. Thank you very much!

    Should given the length of each peace of timber …and 30 degree cut on each end makes 60 degree angle when assembled …

    Could you edit the info and type all materials with measurements ?

    Very helpful however it is 4 foot pieces for anybody looking to complete this project hoping for an archway @ 7ft 👍🏽

    Would the arch be very wobbly and unstable without the steel straps? I would like to make mine without the steel straps

      With my design, yes, it would probably be a bit wobbly. There are probably options to fix it though without straps. Potentially using glue, dowels and screws. I imagine if it were a little shorter it would be more stable too. Good luck with it!

    Hello, just curious what the total cost for the product was? Debating on making this myself or potentially buying one already made. First time DIY’ers here.

      I think it was roughly $40 for the wood and the steel "straps". I already had screws and stain, but that would add another $10 or so.

      Oh wow. Definitely worth the project. I found them for 175! I would rather save the money. Haha. Thank you so much!

    How did you line up the wood with the saw to cut the 30 degree angle? Thank you

    • @BillWanamaker

      The miter saw I had at the time was compound meaning that it can angle in two different axis. I was able to just lie the wood down flat and angle the saw to 30 degrees. With a non-compound miter saw, you'd have to hold the boards up on their side. In that case, I would recommend using a circular saw instead with the blade set to the angle.

    Hey Bill. Planning on doing a very similar build for my wedding in a couple months. What was the total height of your archway?

    • @BillWanamaker
      @BillWanamaker  Před 4 lety

      It was about 7 feet tall. I think each 2x6 piece was 3 feet long. Seemed about right size!

      Bill Wanamaker cool thanks for your quick reply!

    What were the lengths of the 2x6 material?

      It's been some time now but I think I bought 12 footers and cut then down to 3 feet pieces.

    What angles?

    • @BillWanamaker
      @BillWanamaker  Před 3 lety

      30 degree cuts. Just remember it has to all add up too 360 degrees so 6 corners = 12 cuts times 30 = 360.
