Yes I make the backing tracks myself, and I actually include a lot of them in my finger drumming courses. The Foundation Course has a collection of some of my drumless backing tracks for practicing, and I'm going to be adding a batch to the Master Course very soon as well!
have you ever worked with a midiplus xpad? Im trying EVERYTHING to get it playing like drums (waveform free with SSD5 plugin for drums) and no matter what I do it just sounds like the default piano sound. and half the time when i close the program and reopen, it loses sound altogether even though there is signals of input. PLEASE help if you can I got this pad to take your course and im afraid this one won't get me anywhere
It's difficult to say what might be wrong without being able to see all of your internal computer settings, but the Xpad should be able to send MIDI data to any program no problem, including Steven Slate Drums. If your pads are triggering a piano sound, that sounds like it's a problem with proper MIDI input routing in your DAW. Try Googling how to set up Waveform to use MIDI controllers for VSTs, or something along those lines. You can also reach out to Waveform or Midiplus support because they will have a strong understanding of their products and should be able to give you a quick answer. Best of luck!
