When he walked out of the jock's room at Santa Anita I knew I was watching a legend , what a colony of jockeys I got to see ride together . They really brought the best out of each other . Best jocks as far as I'm concerned .

I was at Belmont the day he won 5 races. Loved him. Almost went out on a blind date with him so many decades ago. They couldn't find me. Always admired him.

Probably the greatest rider of all time!
My frinds and I had some Pincay sayings, like
Pincay powerplay or Pincay in the 9th!
    Lafit!

In my opinion, he just kept whipping Sham over and over and over and over in the Belmont in the Preakness in the Derby. Even when he knew that he couldn’t go any more in the Belmont that he was done, he still used the whip. There was one time time in the beginning of the derby to change lanes, that Turcot used the whip on secretariat, but he hand rode him for the rest of that race, and then come in both of the other two races. I think the way he rode Sham was a disgrace.

Laffite could have been the greatest jockey of all time; But SECRETARIAT stood in high s way ruined his fame and life. And the life of Sham.
