I used to play Fresh Tendrils on the Jukebox at my fav bar in college. Nobody knew the song and I was the only one rocking out !!! I happen to be a keyboardist too, so having the Clavi on this one was just icing on the cake.

Since the day it came out superunknown has been my favorite album of all time. And as a fellow drummer, Matt has been an enormous influence on me.
Louder Than Love, is to me, one of the most important rock albums of all time. An under appreciated gem that signalled the dawning of a new age.
I agree with you, kind of, but I personally couldn't say the same for all of the songs, some of which definitely seemed experimental. However, songs like Ugly Truth and Loud Love are definitive arguments to the second part of your statement. Those songs still sound unlike anything we've heard before.
Yes Ugly Truth also has that 6/4 groove.

I love Matt Cameron. When he's talking about playing every beat with intention, I think about "Burden in my hand" and what an absolutely perfect example of drumming that is, fits the song so exactly, no more no less.

One of the best drummers of all time. A amazing song love Soundgarden and was able to show Chris my tattoo of ultra mega ok during a concert being front row. He was a hero to me. What a voice he had. I was crushed like every one else. God bless Matt keep up your amazing playing n time signatures.

Legitimately my favourite rock drummer of all time. And it probably sounds crazy, but I'm pretty sure that opening fill to Fell On Black Days is an all-time banger. It's so simple but it hits like a freight train.
Matt's work on Geddy's My Favourite Headache is outstanding. Jeremy Taggart did a great job as well on Home of the Strange on that same album.

Matt is the first drummer to challenge me because he has such tasteful and unique style. It was a real education trying to play like him. I think only he actually can play like him. That's a true artist. He truly brought class to grunge scene.
Ahh the good ol days. I recorded this from CD to cassette tape and would listen to this while snowboarding in the early 90's. Such a good groove to shred to. I love All Night Thing too!
Matt's one of the best drummers in the last 40yrs. His drums on Superunknown and Badmotorfinger is some of my fav drumming of all time

Soundgarden fan since the early 90s. Matt Cameron is one of my three all-time favorite drummers. He has always been so damn original. Glad to see he's doing well.
I probably listened to the Temple of the Dog album hundreds, maybe even thousands of times throughout the years.

Temple of the Dog easily the best side project for any group. Yes, better than Perfect Circle, Pusifer, Rainbow, Fight, etc
Remember that temple of the dog was McCready and Vedder's first serious recordings. The others had recorded before. What a great first record. So sad that Chris couldn't be interviewed by Rick. I was lucky enough to see Chris's solo show, it was impressive. Loved how he had to play an even number of songs so I think that meant he did 4 temple songs.

Matt Cameron is definitely one of my influences. Love Matt's precise and original playing. Soundgarden stood out as musically the most tight of the Seattle bands (my opinion only). Thank you Matt for your contribution to the rock world, and thank you Rick for continuing to bring amazing and thought provoking content. I'm subscribed and you should be too if you're not.

When i saw Soundgarden both times man what a great drummer for the style of music the skill set he brings its so good with his creativity. I appreciate the interview.
Matt is easily one of my favorate drummers, but he also writes some of the best (guitar) riffs/music in his bands. Would be great if you ever get the chance to talk to him about some of those as well :)

Matt is an incredible drummer- low key fame but if you know then you know. Temple and Super Unknown are my favorite MC performances. My Savior and All Night Thing are inspiring performances alone… Just Like Suicide is another inspiring MC performance! So much respect for Matt! ✊🏻✊🏻

That was and is my drummer of choice for my eta of most appreciation and emotional association. I remember being maybe14 or 15 and mimicking everything of his on a homemade makeshift "kit". And though i knew nothing of their actual scene, being in ohio, the temple of the dog album was a touchstone for me. Hundreds of hours tapping away to his rhythms. I say at my own kit; a pieces together Ludwig and Dixon hodge podge with an even broader cymbal selection....I say there with sticks on a third hand throne, closed my eyes and played the whole record through i one go. Matt was and the drummer pat excellance for this drmmer's lifetime.
Well this song and " never the machine forever " great drums by Cameron and also the pacing is very peculiar and cool .

A possible good question would've been - what was it like to be the drummer in the recording studio for Geddy Lee's 2000 solo album "My Favorite Headache" ? Recorded in Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle and Ontario. A lot of great songs !
under appreciated factoid is that he got chose to be *that guy* 25 years ago, before it was the issue it is now, not that I think the Rush thing in any form ever really happens again
