@@Jill_of_trades They were all hanging out at Stephen’s house one Christmas in the 80s (Hugh was probably there too) and I think she came parading down the stairs naked or something. According to wikipedia, Walt Disney won 22 oscars awards (from nominations), plus four "honorary" oscars. 22 is still the record amount though.
The family with the most Oscars nominations (80) is the Newmans. Randy Newman. Comes from a long line of songwriters who have written Oscar nominated music.

Thomas and David Newman are the sons of the legendary Alfred Newman, Randy is their cousin. Pretty much everyone else in between seems to be musically inclined too. Insane that an extended family like that could all dominate in one artistic space.
And frankly, I'd be happy to receive an Oscar that Stephen Fry made. :)

Betty Davis said once that she is the one who named the statue Oscar. She said that the backside (the bum) of the statue looked identical to her one time husband named Oscar! Hence, she said she named the award when it first was introduced :D ha!

Normalization means they bring the volume up to a standard level. The volume of these QI videos are a fair bit lower than standard. Something small youtubers might have problems understanding, but the BBC really shouldn't, considering they have paid professionals.
My PC has a volume control. When I find a video to be too quiet, I just turn it up.....
@@decodolly1535 Doesn't work when you're at max volume and it's still too quiet to hear properly. Yes, this can and does happen all the time to many people.
I love David Mitchell, but I would argue that having 'The Oscar that Stephen Fry Made' would be a big deal . . .

I find the QI elves (or whoever supervises them - the QI Santa?) Tend to be much like newspaper editors. They often sacrifice strict adherence to facts in favor of a more grandiose tagline/conclusion.
What? It was such a natural conversation between Stephen and Emma.
Knowing that they are great friends may give some much needed context to this.

I really couldn't stand John Sessions (RIP) on QI with his I know! I know! attitude, I don't think held really understood the idea of the show, i.e. have a bit of fun. I know he's not with us anymore and I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but that just always bugged me
