Hunter 350 Long Ride Puri to Kapilash

The last destination of our Odisha long ride with Royal Enfield Hunter 350 was from Puri to Kapilash via Konark. Our day began with a vibrant sunrise at Puri sea beach. Spending the morning in Puri we decided to go to Kapilsh in (Dhenkanal district) via Konark. It was around 180 km distance because we included Konark, otherwise Puri to Kapilash is only 147 km. Escaping the crowd of Puri we took a fresh breath along the beautiful marine drive of Puri to Konark just after crossing Balukhanda Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is famous for the nesting of rare Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. However, we were a bit disheartened to see the crowd at Chandrabhaga beach (at Konark), which used to be a serene beach even few years back. We paid a brief visit to Konark Sun temple as well, but did not go inside due to the long queue. We were already running late for Kapilash. From Konark we took the Konark-Katakpur road and crossing towns like Gop, Nimapara finally hit the NH 16 (Chennai-Kolkata Highway) at Pipli and moved towards Cuttack. Around 10 km after crossing Cuttack city comes a place called Tangi from where we had to take a right turn leaving the national highway. Kapilash is at a distance of 40 km from Tangi. The road was turning beautiful as we left Tangi with green paddy fields on both sides and hills appearing at the horizon. Almost at the halfway between Tangi and Kapilash we entered the forest range of Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary. This forest is really dense and wild at some places. But the road is well maintained. This road finally leads to Dhenkanal, the district head quarter. But 16 km before Dhenkanal we took a sharp left towards Kapilash. Kapilash is famous for the ancient Chandrashekhar Shiva Temple at an altitude of 2239 ft. But the only decent accommodation is available in Nirupama Hotel at the foothills. We did not have any prior booking, but could get room on spot. The location and service of the hotel was really nice and almost gives the feeling of staying inside the forest. The temple is another 5 km uphill from this hotel. Tomorrow we will visit the temple. Keep watching our channel “Sudurer Piyasi” for the upcoming videos.

অসাধারণ স্থিরচিত্র দিয়ে অনবদ্য সুচনা। বাইকের ফটোশ্যূট এক দারুন মনছোয়া ব্যাপার। চেনা পথ নতুন করে চেনা গেল। মনটা জুড়িয়ে গেল। সুদুরের পিয়াসীদের দেখানো পথ ধরে কিছুটা হলেও ঘুরে দেখার ইচ্ছা জেগে উঠেছে। পুরী গেলে এই স্বপ্ন সার্থক করার চেষ্টা করবো। সত্যি অনবদ্য আবিষ্কার আপনাদের। মনটা সেই কারণেই উসখুস করতে থাকে। অনেক ধন্যবাদ আপনাদের। অনেক অনেক শুভকামনা নিয়ে পরবর্তী পর্বের অপেক্ষায় রইলাম

Kapilas hill trip is very interesting. I heard that Kapilas hill can be reached directly from Puri through a jungled road which by-passes Bhubaneswar. I am not confident about it . I liked the drive to Kapilas. Hope your new mc did nicely on the highway. Thank you.
