The japanese understood one thing: Weissâ rapier was the most versatile weapon of the 4 girls and immediately said: Yeah. Letâs make her the villain this season.
That and she has the style and prescence to back it up. Not to mention that aside from Ruby going full Grimreaper (Which would never happen) carving a path of death and destruction with Crecent Rose no other main character has that villian potential

I love the little details in this ep notice how Weissâs hair is tied in the middle while used to be on the side symbolises that she has no free will, the alter version on rubyâs weapon (probably because Weiss doesnât understand full the inner workings of it)
Her glyphs are also different too. You can see that slash in the middle of them
No scar too,not sure what that could mean but itâs probably that culture of women in high status must look perfect or else they are âworthâ less
I saw on Twitter someone mention that her original design has her hair tied up to the side because she is not perfect. Now she has it in the middle and it's perfectly symmetrical, boxed in that ideal

So here's the thing if you missed the first 3 episodes or just didn't read the synopsis at all and somehow ended up watching this. This is a original story set right after team RWBY enrollment at Beacon and it's set inside Weiss's counciousness (like Persona 5 if that servers as a comparison). Right now she is possessed by a new type of Grimm and her friends are trying to destroy the Grimm inside her to bring her back. That's why there are all these new places, outfits, weapons and literally Esdeath.

Are the Phantom Thieves really helpful in a situation like this? Maybe they need Mitsuru from Persona 3. She was able to defeat Weiss in Death Battle.

@@elpepo0 I could probably give you an entire tirade on all the things I think are wrong with this show but I brought up plot so I'll stick to a single point which is Weiss. In the original show Weiss is a snooty, uptight, entitled, spoiled litte brat. But she is also an extremely kind and caring individual and is above all honest and straightforward where it matters. OG Weiss explains very straightforwardly why she distrusts the faunus, and apologizes to Blake because she realizes that she is an individual and that she shouldn't judge her based on preconceived notions of her people. She recognizes that they both have suffered due to the conflict even though they were once on opposite sides. Meanwhile ice queendom Weiss pretends to get over it, while she doesn't change at all. And this whole subconscious Dreamscape plot just feels like trying to have her friends force change in her, rather than have her experience the subtle and slow change that is actual character growth. And that's without even touching on the pacing, minimalist animation, and utter lack of heart compared to the original. Which can be pretty bad at times itself, but this is definitely worse.

Yes, I love seeing Ruby having these complex and conflicting emotions, and getting angry and calling Weiss out on her bs, I need more of it! :) The chills I got from this.

Weiss rocks that outfit. Her current ones are nice but for me is always weird how the "white" character uses mainly blue. So this one for me is perfect. Ruby's not so much, but she looks adorable, so I wont complain.

Couldn't agree more smh. It's hilarious how everyone except for the company actually making the show can make actually good and fitting outfits for the characters.
@@ijoel_jess8289 Yeah, the worst part is that they arent even bad outfits, like if they were casual clothes while keeping the hunting gear in theme there would be no problem, but nope, Blake barely wears black, Weiss is either gray or blue, Yang mostly brown and orange, and Ruby remains Red mostly thanks to her cloak. Its weird.

People constantly complain about the outfits themselves like for example Blake's current one where it has a ridiculous amount of zippers, and on one hand, it's fair, because it's kinda dumb... But like, if Blake actually got to wear black instead of white and poopy dark purple, then she would look good even in a idiotic outfit like that.
Although it's like you said as well, a more casual outfit with a clear hunter/huntress theme like back in the Beacon days would be better. I think the main problems with the outfits lately is the insistence on refusing Weiss and Blake to wear their color, and making the outfits extra complicated.

since this is Weiss' Dream World it would make sense why she's so OP, at this point in the story she was still under the impression that she's so much better and skilled than everyone around her, except Phyrra of course, so now that she's in her subconcious all that arrogance becomes fact, Team RBY it's gonna have a hard time with fighting her, and the fact that Weiss hasn't bothered to ACTUALLY learn how Ruby's Crescent Rose works hence why it looks kinda wacky and works differently here, I assume it'll be the same with Yang and Blake so on top of ego fuelled power they're gonna have to fight with handicaps.

Yang might not be nerfed that hard. Gauntlets that fire explosions is hard to misinterpret compared to Crescent Rose and itâs transformation. Plus Iâd buy Weiss has a much harder time seeing it in action as Ruby is not only swinging it constantly but also using her speed semblance. Sheâs still an idiot for not trying to get a basic understanding of how her teammatesâ weapons and abilities work but out of all of their weapons I do think Rubyâs is the most complex
Blake's gonna be nerfed hard aswell if she thinks that Blake's weapon is a "Katana with a long Rope thingy with a gun attached to it"
Ironically, Yang and Blake were buffed, Yang's gauntlet are more powerfull and Blake's rope now is almost infinite in range, her blade and gun works fine, so, Weiss dont know their weapons perfectly but almost, just dont know their limits, luckily that makes them stronger, is just Ruby who is understimated with her complex weapon that got it wrong.

You can tell that when Ruby said that she would never talk to Weiss again after she saves her that Weiss was really hurt by that comment cuz she wants to change but at the same time she wants to match the perfection that comes with being a member of the Schnee family.

I think that hesitation from weiss was a bit of her actual personality revealed. She seemed slightly bothered or even hurt by Rubys comment
It was even shown during initiation when Ruby says she hates Weiss for how condescending and Yang when she doubts Weiss about lying to them all
This show is pretty good at setting up Weiss as a villain because of how fake her character development felt

the anime may be using its own soundtrack , but atleast they are keeping the theme of RWBY and having quite a few insert songs so far

Obviously RWBY and Yofukashi no Uta. I am also a huge fan of mysteries, so the Made in Abyss OST got me again and Summertime Render has a lot of good tracks even though they don't get to use them that often.

When she said ruby, her voice sounded awfully familiar with the girl from Jewel pet sunshine whoâs roommates with the bunny Ruby. I wonder if itâs the same voice actress or not, this is just from my memory recall.
Itâs been said that while dreams are made up of our memories and imagination but itâs also a fact that dreams are windows to our multiverse selfs. So maybe Weiss dream isnât just how she views herself and Ruby but maybe this is how they are in another universe.

@@zarock61 Miles and Kerry were the original writers alongside Monty. Monty himself was not a writer, he was more or less an idea guy and lead animator (especially in regards to fight choreography, evidently a passion of his). While it's true to say we'll never know what the original version of the story would have been had Monty not passed and everything went according to plan, it is silly to pretend RoosterTeeth *ruined* RWBY's writing after Monty died, writing was obviously never the focus.

I was actually avoiding this show because I thought it was just a 1 for 1 remake and the original show eventually became, for lack of a better word, BAD. I might check this 1 out now because it looks like they are taking a different direction and I am interested in seeing what can be done with the great concepts this show had before rooster teeth stopped caring.

Considering that it's made by one of the best studios aka SHAFT, it shouldn't been too much of a surprise that it looks amazing. That aside though, RWBY didn't really have much of a budget in the first few volumes

One thing that took huuuge anime liberties is the new character Shion's semblance. I mean, what is it?? She can send people into someone's mind, give them shortcuts, decoys, and phone booths, and also use some sort of telekinetically-controlled ball of yarn to suspend people and grab things? Every other character's semblance is short and sweet, but hers is like five in one, and doesn't really make sense in-universe (I mean how often are people needing to go on adventures inside other people's minds? In what other situation is her semblance applicable?) She just feels like an enormous plot device.
Points at Blake who can create exploding clones with fire dust, points at Weiss with her time dilation, gravity control and summoning, points at Glynda with her telekinesis/object repair. Dust interacts with semblances don't forget that.
I'm completely lost but actually interested in RWBY again

Honestly one of the few things to reinvigorate my passion for the series. I'm sure the next Volume will not be good. However Ice Queendom is a pretty enjoyable side story.
Even the recap episodes help elaborate some plot details skimmed over in the original web series.

If only the anime did fights like the original series. The fights were animated so that you could see every move and the characters and weapons had a sense of weight to them that the anime lacks.
