    for ordering for your specific Volvo year make and model for the following Volvo models.
    C30 C70 S40 S60 S70 S80 S90 V40 V70 V90 XC70 XC90
    For further information on reinstalling the Volvo Car Mirror Replacement Glass to the Frame, and why your Volvo mirror fell off the frame. Please read this.
    In the last 15 years, we have been selling a lot of mirrors that the glass has fallen out of the frame for no reason. One of the biggest problems cars has been the Volvo . There are another 20 or 30 makes and models that has had this problem in recent years. Right now you are seeing a black pad. The manufacture of this product used a Mylar black pad, to separate the glass from the heating element on your vehicle. Most side view mirrors are glued to the frame that is attached motor using automotive silicone, acrylic glue or urethane. Behind this black pad is a heating element. In the past, many European car manufactures did not use first surface chromium mirror, and those mirrors. which we think was made of aluminum oxide would turn brown due to absorption of the heating element which burns the mirror glass. So they tried to fix the problem, however your mirror was glued to the black Mylar pad using a rubber based spray adhesive. So a good idea, that now has gone bad.

    Thank you for sharing this easy (and quick) fix with us! You remind me of my Dad who is a retired auto tech-when I need help with this kind of stuff, he always explains what happened, why it likely happened, and how to fix the problem so that it (hopefully) doesn’t happen again. Though others may not have appreciated your thoroughness, I certainly did!

      Once one side goes the other is next. I wish I was able to sell to everyone a plastic glass stick to run around the outside of the mirror with the mirror heat on. Never use anything of metal. So take a pen cap around the edge. You might get lucky and get the mirror off before it fly's off. Lol.

    • @raytheglass
      @raytheglass  Před 4 lety +1

      I hope you diluted the Acetone, because if you used 100%. I have heard a customer say it melted both the mylar black pad and destroyed the heating element behind it. 10% acetone is enough to clean the rubber contaminate. Also, thanks for letting us know that the use of Aquarium Silicone will work perfectly being it does bond both glass and plastic, the only difference from what I use would kill the poor fish. You should do your own CZcams on why use Aquarium Silicone when fixing or building fish tanks. Thanks for your comment, and that silicone alternative.

    My Mirror Didn't Fall Out, It Turned Black. Can I Still Place The Mirror On It?

    • @raytheglass
      @raytheglass  Před 5 lety

      Yes but in your case you have a self dimming mirror. They also call it an auto dimming mirror. When light falls at night and the cars are behind you it gets dimmer. But when they do get old they will turn black or bronze depending on the car. If you'd like to order this you go to www. Auto-glass.com/carmirror.htm On the left choose the make then the model, which then you will see the mirror you need. Also you can see another video. Hope this help or call us at 845-496-2500.
