- Sam Fender's Hypersonic Missiles is an instant classic. Not since Arctic Monkeys' staggering debut has a record so perfectly taken a snap shot of a generation. But gone are the days of Alex Turner's mid-noughties Tropical Reefs and taxis-home-from-nightclubs. Instead, as we prepare to tumble into the 20s, we find an adolescent landscape that's bleak and confused, where teenagers battle anxiety and depression, as well as the pressures of social media, prescription drugs, and the need to be "woke." It's a new world out there, and it seems Sam Fender is the one to lead us into it.
Watch Sam Fender talk John Kennedy through every song on Hypersonic Missiles.

Lockdown has me here watching everything sam fender.
same
amen.
One of the most down to earth lads I've ever seen interviewed. Clearly music is his love not the fame
You’re not the only one has me in tears, what a song
I appreciate how pensive he is. Only 25 and really thinking about social issues critically and carefully. Highlighting his notes on social media too, it seems so taxing for public figures today to have to present themselves to the media and see yourself in the media endlessly as part of your job.
No kidding. Watching this kind of broke my heart. He should not have to explain himself so much. He's just a bright, young, talented man finding his way. Leave him to it and stop asking him to explain everything. His art speaks for itself.
This young man is such a bright hope for British music. Hopefully he has a long and prolific career ahead of him.
One of the best young artist of this generation
When he starts talking about abortion law in the US around 15:11 it really got me. He is so aware of the current situation and I find it incredible that he is willing to discuss this and other relevant topics so openly, a lot of older people that are in the public eye aren't willing to do that.
Brigitte Krause guy is a liberal plant. his opinions on abortion aren’t anything new or original, it’s been the mainstream opinion since ‘67 in this country.
the government tells men and women what they can’t do with their bodies all the time, and often for right reasons. why should the right to kill your own offspring be allowed?
ikr!!!! same when i first heard white privilege, i was SOLD immediately. we want artists like sam fender in 21st century -_-
@@Jordan-ln9rp maybe you should reflect on yourself first

I’m still salty that All Is On My Side is not on the album
Lucy Norris it’s releasing tonight... can’t wait!
Think it was probably too similar in subject to Will We Talk to make the cut. Still an unreal tune though!
This guy is so cool thanks for existing Sam
What a lovely interview - no pretention - total sincerity. Am really moved by this
in a world where music is so artificial, sam fender exists. Never change.

purity through sound..//
I think Fender, for all his talent and wonderful music, should have faith in, not only himself, but others too. He would have made it despite his skin colour because he is talented. It really ought to be about more than someones skin colour. I hope he flirts with more contentious ideas, but if the mob come for him it'll be because of his power, privilege of skin, not because he's a talented musician. Which is sad because it means he is judged on something that he has no control over rather than the content of his creations.
thestranger11 music is the one thing that can’t be judged; no matter what. Skin colour, background or beliefs do not matter when it comes to music
I see plenty of black people in Manchester in brand new Mercedes, I always think I have white privilege then.
Yes you do, as you wouldn’t be questioned as to why you’re driving one
@@hcrossley9365 Boom....
You hit right there mate
He's completely self centered how can he say poor white people are privileged ? He validates that by saying if he wasn't a white boy with a guitar? What about ex miners or homeless people?
He...never said that ..
James it’s more about the fact that whites people in general have a privilege in life, that doesn’t mean everyone who’s white has a perfect life. Say there was a white man who was homeless and a black man whose homeless, Generally the white man would be treated ‘better’ in that situation
@@itsgrace3542 What evidence do you have for that?
James none but neither do you, I’m only stating the meaning that most people associate with ‘white privilege’
James besides I prefer to think the best of people unless proven otherwise you’d just live life hating on people and never being able to be open to other people’s opinions
