You can also hokd the button for a few seconds and it will mute all sound even the sound coming from the tv so you can hear everything around you. Its like a mute button on the tv remote except instead of reaching for that remote you can just hold the button on the controller and make it easier and faster

To fix it just hold the mute button till it says on your screen that the mic and headphones are muted,now you won’t hear any sound from the controller but you could also switch voice channels depending on which game you are playing

If no one knows yet, there is a small white line under the PS button. You can simply press it and it will light up orange and that means your microphone on the controller is off👍🏻

There's a button there for it which has a light to show it's muted...and it can be set to mute by default. Set it to mute by default, a day one setting change for sure .

There is a button on the controller that shuts this off without you needing to do anything in game. Right under the PS button there’s a skinny clear button that mutes the mic.
