I'm 62. In 1985 Oct 28th, attended one of the few concerts they made here in Italy: great band! I have this and the previous vinyl album and a compilation in CD
I went to see TFF in August, 1985 at the Apollo Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. They mesmerised the packed venue with their sheer brilliance. I vividly remember when they finished the set they had walked off the stage only to suddenly return. Roland said "we forgot to do a song" and we all went crazy. Pure genius at such a young age. You don't see this anymore.
I think this song was big because it had soul and passion some bass and some real singing and a tune (and I think - although I stand to be corrected if wrong - it's in a minor key?). A lot of 80s music only had one or two of these factors. This song was 'bigger; than most.
My favorite album ever! 8. I believe. 7. Broken. 6. Listen. 5. Working Hour. 4. Mothers talk. 3. Everybody wants to rule the world. 2. Shout. 1. Head over heals
This was the first cassette I was ever given. I was obsessed with this album as a ten year old, and I'll be damned if I'm not as blown away by it today. Funny how little actions so long ago shape us into the people we are today. I'm sure Marguerite had no idea I would love this album so much when she gave it to me for my birthday, and I have no idea what she is doing today, but I always silently thank her when I play this album.
I always find it quite amazing how one of the unifying aspects of life, regardless of where you're from, is the power of music to evoke our strongest & most cherished memories
A simple observation here....Just look at the insight science has access to presently with all of our comments, memories and emotions. What a treasure chest for science, medicine and A.I. to deeply learn what fuels human emotions. Hopefully if and when it is used, it will be of a positive nature. @@Franklin.Ellesmere
@@sidneymays It bridged the gap with 80's dance music in the nightclubs , top 40's music, and rock (especially Broken and Mothers Talk). There's even a slow ballad. Definitely a very strong album.
Awesome album in it's entirety. So under rated and I hope the band wanted it to be that way. Peter Frampton comes to mind somehow while listening to this album. I think it is due to the hell Peter went through at the transition between the album Frampton Comes Alive and his next album, Frampton's Camel. Frampton Comes Alive album and concert tour occurred when I was 13 years old. Like everybody, I loved "Alive" and was on a high so to speak at that time listening to this wonderful, colorful music and knowing that I theoretically was standing at the door to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. So much more was to come out of this magical place and in unimaginable colors. I was a kid and the world was a wonder. With the success and excitement "Alive" brought I myself am included in the group who anxiously awaited Peter Frampton's next album. When it did hit every record store across the nation and probably most of the free world, the listeners did several things. The one thing most notable to me was the disappointment that quickly turned into anger/insult. I remember hearing D.J's shit talk "Frampton's Camel" and their comments over the air fueled a mob and turned into one big ugly spoiled and entitled child throwing a fit for not getting what it wanted. Peter Frampton fell out of the publics sight for years after that. More like a decade had passed without anybody talking about the release of the failed album. When I saw his reemergence I didn't even recognize him. Gone was his ling wavy blonde hair, his dynamic smile and the light confident ora around him. This new Peter Frampton was playing new music so different that today I can not recall any new songs he did after his first album. To sum up my point, without a doubt I would bet good money that this cycle Peter Frampton went through has and still is the fuel that enables incrediblly talented artiste who are not emotionally grounded well enough to go on and commit suicide or participate in activities that lead to their deaths. Noboby can understand the pressure, the level of stardom these type of artists must feel, go through and deal with. Think about this: You just released am album that put you at the top of the music world and the public is so focused on you with praises. You've been put on a pedistle and are enjoying it. Contract offers, famous people befriend you...the world is yours....then comes the time to produce your next album. It has to be at least as good as the last one you did and hopfully better because you are looking to step up onto that next higher platform. When all is said and done your dealing with the fact that you do not posess even the idea where this next album is going,. Some band members have other ideas and have left to join other bands and other things that now have you in a panic. The thought of revealing yourself as just a regular person that has an ability to perform music. Millions of people play musical instrunents. This pressure has fueled many artists deep into substanse abuse. Ultimately with unlimited access to drugs and money it turns into overdosing. So glad this band and others are able to not fall into this cycle.
